As Asia Hydro Project Quality Leader you will be accountable for driving world-class quality across GE Vernova Hydro Power projects in Asia from tender through Services. The role leads a team of Project Quality Engineers to ensure right-first-time delivery compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements and high customer satisfaction. You will partner closely with Project Management Engineering Sourcing Manufacturing and Site teams to prevent defects reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and strengthen our Quality Management System (QMS) in project execution.Job Description
Role & Responsibilites:
Leadership & Team Management
- Build lead and develop a high-performing team of Project Quality Engineers; manage resource/capacity planning across the project portfolio.
- Define and deploy the project quality strategy for Europe in alignment with global Hydro quality standards and business objectives.
- Establish a competency framework training plans and coaching for project teams on quality tools and best practices.
- Attract retain and develop quality talent; drive an inclusive safety-first speak-up culture
- Recognize behaviors that reinforce prevention discipline in standards and customer focus
Project Execution Quality
- Own the project quality lifecycle: contract quality requirements flow-down Project Quality Plans (PQP) Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) control plans quality gates and handover documentation
- Ensure robust risk prevention (e.g. quality risk registers FMEA critical-to-quality characteristics) and quality assurance at design reviews and key milestones
- Coordinate quality activities across factories suppliers and sites (FAT SAT hold points welding/NDT oversight coatings documentation and traceability)
- Lead effective nonconformance management (NCR) Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions ensuring timely closure and sustainable outcomes.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary quality interface for customers on assigned projects; lead customer quality reviews and manage complaints/claims related to quality
- Prepare for and host customer audits third-party inspections and regulatory/notified body assessments ensuring readiness and rapid resolution of findings
- Collaborate with Project Directors/Managers Engineering Sourcing/Supplier Quality Manufacturing Field Services PMO and EHS to ensure aligned execution
Reporting and KPIs
- Define and track project quality KPIs such as: NCR rate and aging first-time yield (FTY) defect leakage to site/warranty COPQ audit findings closure customer quality satisfaction on-time quality deliverables
- Provide clear data-driven reporting to leadership with actions and owners; escalate systemic risks early with mitigation plans
- Process owner of the Regional MOR operating rhythm and weekly project escalation framework
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical Electrical Industrial Civil) or related technical discipline.
- 10 years of Quality and/or project execution experience in the energy power generation or industrial sector.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and practical deployment of QMS in project environments
- Demonstrated expertise in project quality planning (PQP ITPs) inspection coordination and documentation/traceability requirements
- Proven track record leading RCA (8D 5-Why Ishikawa) with measurable results
- Experience interfacing with customers third-party inspectors and auditors
- Strong technical literacy (drawings/specifications materials welding/NDT basics rotating equipment fundamentals) and risk-based quality management
- Ability and willingness to travel across the region and occasional global travel as required
- Experience effectively working in and managing a matrix environment and across different cultures
Preferred
- Proficiency with ERP/PLM/eQMS tools and data-driven reporting; strong excellent communication and negotiation skills in English.
- Background in hydro turbines/generators gates/valves large equipment manufacturing Engineering or complex site installation/commissioning
- Familiarity with directives/standards relevant to hydro projects (e.g. Machinery Directive PED) and customer/utility specifications
- Experience with supplier quality for engineered-to-order components and third-party inspection coordination.
