Job Summary

Title: Regional Literacy Specialist- State Support Team (SST) Reports To:Region 14 State Support Team (SST) DirectorEmployment Status: Full-Time FLSA Status: ExemptGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Regional Literacy Specialist provides leadership and expertise in implementing high-quality evidence-based literacy instruction across districts. This role supports educators and administrators through coaching professional development and data-driven decision-making to improve student reading outcomes. The specialist leads and supports the implementation of integrated multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and structured literacy practices. This position requires deep knowledge of literacy development experience in professional learning design and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for all : The following are the minimum qualifications of the personnel: A masters degree in reading or literacy education or a masters degree in a related area with either reading or literacy endorsements on a state license. Expertise in how to improve student learning through the implementation of high-quality evidence-based reading/literacy strategies. Completion of a professional development program accredited by theInternational Dyslexia Association (accreditation or accreditation plus level). Three to five years of successful classroom teaching that includes reading/literacy instruction in kindergarten through grade twelve. Experience as a provider of professional development and technical assistance specific to evidence-based language and literacy development. Evidence of previous development of professional development materials specific to language and literacy development. Experience with coaching and consulting educators or leaders. Experience designing and implementing district-wide or school-wide integrated multitiered system of supports. Knowledge of how to analyze and use student data and adult implementation data. Experience working with facilitating or participating in the collaborative problem-solving QUALIFICATIONS:Experience providing instruction in special education with a masters degree in special education and/or an intervention specialist license. Experience providing instruction to individuals with dyslexia or individuals with risk factors for dyslexia. Experience providing and coaching structured literacy instruction. Experience facilitating and interpreting screening measures for identifying students at risk for reading failure. Must pass a criminal background drivers license and reliable pass a criminal background drivers license and reliable FUNCTIONS:Intensive District Coaching (50%)Provide intensive coaching to assigned districts aligned with Ohios Coaching comprehensive literacy needs assessments using multiple data sources (e.g. Reading Tiered Fidelity Inventory State Report Card data district profiles student performance data).Develop and monitor coaching service delivery plans with clear goals and measurable implementation of integrated multi-tiered systems of support (I-MTSS) for collaborative problem-solving processes at district and building classroom-level student-focused coaching using a leveled coaching with the selection implementation and monitoring of high-quality instructional materials aligned with the science of alignment of literacy plans (e.g. Reading Achievement Plan Local Literacy Plan) with district improvement Systems Coaching & Technical Assistance (20%)Provide targeted systems coaching to strengthen literacy instruction across all the development of problem-solving teams and inclusive instructional districts in analyzing universal screening and student outcome consultation and professional learning related to literacy improvement Networking & Statewide Collaboration (15%)Facilitate regional literacy networking opportunities and communities of in statewide literacy networks and professional with educational service centers and Department staff to ensure aligned Development & Communication (15%)Participate in required onboarding and ongoing professional in continuous professional growth aligned to literacy best consistent communication with SST leadership and Department regional capacity-building efforts related to literacy AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of: Southern Ohio Educational Service Center policies and regulations Region 14 Scope of Work names of school personnel State and Federal Rules and Regulations ODEW Models of School to: interpret policies procedures and regulations; follow instructions; communicate effectively; maintain files and records; collect data; prepare required reports; accept and request assistance when situations warrant; work effectively with staff in prioritizing work; move/lift eighty (80) OPERATED: electronic presentation equipment computersOTHER WORKING CONDITIONS:l.
