Job Summary

Data Platform Ops Engineer

Location - Bloomington Ave S MN 2 days a week onsite

Level: Open to mid-level or senior (must work independently without constant supervision)

Seeking Data Platform Operations Engineer to support and maintain its Azure-based data infrastructure. This role is responsible for deploying monitoring and maintaining Azure Data Landing Zone resources to ensure high availability security and performance.

This position plays a critical role in safeguarding the enterprise analytics platform enabling reliable analytics workflows accurate reporting and data-driven decision making. The engineer will also mentor team members and provide expert consultation to technical teams and business partners.

Key Responsibilities

Automate the creation deployment and maintenance of data platforms
Provide primary support for implementing upgrading and maintaining data platform environments
Optimize system stability resilience and security
Collaborate with data engineers data product teams and vendors to resolve issues
Ensure compliance with security standards in partnership with IS&T Security Management
Debug complex issues and provide analysis for future enhancements
Proactively maintain efficient and effective systems
Forecast capacity needs and develop tools to prevent future capacity issues

Required Skills (Must Have)

2 years of hands on Azure infrastructure and service deployment
2 years using Terraform
Strong data platform experience and problem solving skills
Strong experience documenting deployments
Solid understanding of Azure networking including private endpoints
Postgres
GitHub Actions (core future direction; strong experience required)
Deployment experience with Azure AI Studio

Nice to Have Skills

Ansible
NoSQL or SQL experience
Databricks

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Math Engineering or related field
OR 3 years of relevant IT experience
2 years of hands-on DevOps experience
2 years deploying services and infrastructure in Azure public cloud
2 years provisioning infrastructure using Terraform
2 years of Ansible experience
Strong knowledge of GitHub Actions
Strong understanding of data platforms
Experience performing and documenting in-depth technical analysis
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
Expertise in technical documentation and interpreting business requirements
Strong understanding of LAN and WAN networking
Experience with disaster recovery planning
Ability to participate in on-call rotation and work outside standard business hours as needed
Proficiency with Microsoft tools: Outlook Word Excel Visio PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
Hands-on experience with Databricks
Experience with Azure Databases for PostgreSQL
Experience with Liquibase
Azure CLI (az) experience
Experience configuring Azure Monitoring
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Administration of Oracle or Microsoft SQL databases
Azure cloud certifications
Experience provisioning HIPAA-compliant cloud services
