Job Summary
Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a full-time teaching track faculty position in the Performing Arts Department at the rank of Lecturer to begin in the fall semester of 2026. This position is open to a specialist in Acting and Directing with an emphasis on Musical Theater. Candidates with additional experience directing plays or libretti in a range of styles or historical genres are especially welcome to apply. An MFA in Acting Directing Musical Theater and/or a PhD in Theater and Performance Studies or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. Duties will include teaching studio courses in musical theater and various levels and styles of acting as well as courses in other areas of the candidates expertise (e.g. theater for social change devising acting for the camera etc.). Duties also include directing one mainstage musical per academic year directing a staged reading for our annual Hotchner Festival of New Student Plays (as needed) mentoring senior projects advising students participating in department governance and university service.
