About the role

This is a varied and hands-on role sitting within BMOs Compliance and Legal teams giving you real exposure to a wide range of compliance and commercial legal matters across an international business.

Youll play an active part in delivering BMOs compliance programme covering key risk areas including financial and economic crime competition law data privacy environmental matters human rights and geopolitical risk. Day-to-day this means reviewing documentation supporting the rollout of new compliance initiatives monitoring the effectiveness of controls and helping to identify and remediate emerging risks. Youll also support internal investigations including drafting reports and maintaining records and keep a close eye on legal and regulatory developments across BMOs markets.

A significant part of the role involves working with Local Compliance Officers across our 12 European Business Units helping to ensure policies are applied consistently and that risks are identified and escalated early. Youll coordinate the Local Compliance Officer community organising quarterly calls presenting updates and issuing guidance and act as a trusted point of contact for practical compliance queries.

Youll also support BMOs data privacy work including initial reviews of Data Protection Impact Assessments and manage BMOs compliance and data email inboxes. On the commercial legal side youll assist the Outdoor Legal team with contract administration supplier agreements and corporate governance matters liaising with colleagues across BMO and the wider Bauer Media Group to keep policies and processes aligned and up to date.

What were looking for

You will be a qualified paralegal with prior experience gained in-house in private practice or both with a track record of supporting compliance programmes and/or commercial legal activities.

In terms of knowledge and skills were looking for:

• Legal drafting and document review comfortable reviewing and analysing complex documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Compliance knowledge working understanding of at least one of the following: data privacy law (e.g. GDPR) anti-bribery and corruption legislation or competition law and keen to broaden your expertise across all three.
• Organisational ability manage multiple workstreams simultaneously meet deadlines reliably and communicate clearly when priorities shift or escalation is needed.
• Commercial awareness understand that compliance exists to support the business and you can balance enterprise risk with practical proportionate solutions.
• Relationship-building confident working with colleagues across legal compliance and operational teams including in cross-cultural and international environments.
• Microsoft 365 proficiency confident working in Word Excel and PowerPoint.

Experience in a multinational or multi-jurisdictional environment would be a real asset as would any exposure to contract lifecycle management or corporate governance processes. Language skills relevant to BMOs European markets are also a bonus.
