The Evans School has an outstanding opportunity for Advising & Outreach Manager to join their Student Affairs team.

About this Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Student Affairs the Advising & Outreach Manager is responsible for enrolling diverse cohorts of highly qualified students to the Evans School. The manager will be responsible for developing implementing and managing recruitment activities and advising and counseling prospective students across our programs.

Typical work schedule is eight hours per day Monday - Friday with ability to work evening and weekend hours as necessary on short or limited notice. Frequent local travel expected. Must have regular and reliable transportation for local travel and willing to travel when necessary. This position will benefit from the telework policies that provide flexibility in work location with a hybrid schedule of in person and remote options. Hybrid schedule of at least three days per week working on UW Seattle Campus.

Key Responsibilities:

Outreach & Recruitment: (75% FTE)

  • Execute and manage the recruitment strategy for prospective student engagement alongside the Director of Student Affairs and Assistant Dean of Students & Learning Innovation to attract and enroll diverse candidates across the schools educational programs.

  • Support efforts to build a pipeline of diverse students from community organizations other campus and community partners and recruitment events locally regionally and nationwide.

  • Counsel and advise prospective students on the Undergraduate (major and minor) Graduate (MPA EMPA PhD) and microcredential and certificate programs. and fit their professional goals. Use a deep understanding of the programs to guide prospective candidates through all stages of the process from initial inquiry through matriculation.

  • Work with the Director of Student Affairs Director of Academic Program Innovation and faculty Program Directors to develop and present information sessions and application workshops to prospective students.

  • Develop and manage the Evans Student Ambassador Program. Advise student ambassadors on how to promote Evans share their experiences and give advice to prospective students.

  • Lead the planning of major recruitment events such as Prospective Student Open House and Admitted Student Open House.

  • Respond to a high volume of inquiries about topics such as program fees financial aid curriculum career services provided informational events the application process etc.

  • Represent the programs at career fairs recruiting events and meetings in the Pacific Northwest and across the US.

  • Working with Director of Marketing and Communications Director of Student Affairs and Senior Director of Digital Initiatives plan and execute the development and delivery of all marketing and communication materials for prospective admitted and incoming students.

  • Stay current on recruiting strategies and trends benchmark activities against other programs and share knowledge and best practices learned with team members.

  • Identify and undertake special projects and other duties as needed in support of the educational programs.

Advising & New Student Onboarding: (25%FTE)

  • Implement and administer the admission application process and policies as determined by the Director of Student Affairs and Assistant Dean of Students and Learning Innovation.

  • Maintain communication with candidates as they move through the admissions process.

  • Review and evaluate applications for admission and provide input into admission decisions including fellowship awards.

  • Prepare admission decision materials and convey admissions decisions to candidates in the Graduate Schools Slate system and Evans CRM systems.

  • Support the execution of new student onboarding and orientation activities and events as needed.

  • Hire and manage student employees supporting the recruiting marketing and admissions activities of the programs.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent

  • Three years of experience in an admissions/advising/counseling capacity in an educational or non-profit setting or related field.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated organizational skills related to project management.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills; an awareness of cultural differences; demonstrated experience and ability to communicate effectively.

  • Professional demeanor and ability to effectively interact with a broad community of faculty industry partners other staff students.

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience working with individuals from different cultural ethnic geographic and experiential backgrounds.

  • Attention to detail ability to think strategically and creatively gather appropriate input and act decisively.

  • Valid drivers license and willingness to drive (using university vehicle) to regional recruitment fairs and travel by plane to national recruitment fairs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Student Development Administration Counseling Higher Education Administration or a related field.

  • Experience and knowledge of student development theory and higher education admissions.

  • Knowledge of social media and marketing concepts.

  • Ability to use data to inform recruitment decisions.

  • Experience in or formal knowledge of public service-related fields.

This position works in a shared open office space with their teammates. Ability to work in shared office is needed as well as ability to effectively interact with a broad community of faculty industry partners other staff students and student employees.

About the Team:

The Evans School SALTI team comprised of the Student Affairs and Teaching & Learning Innovation teams (SALTI) work in close collaboration to provide support to faculty prospective and current students and visitors. The SALTI team supports students across multiple degree programs a Bachelor of Arts in Public Service and Policy a Minor in Public Service & Policy a Master of Public Administration (MPA) an Executive MPA (EMPA) a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management as well as four graduate level certificates.
