Job Summary

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor Associate Professor or Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT) in the Immunotherapy Integrated Research Center (IIRC) of the Fred Hutch (primary appointment) and the Division of Hematology and Oncology Department of Medicine at the UW (joint appointment). The specific rank at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described inUWs Faculty Code Section 24-34. University of Washington Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and Associate Professors and full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The IIRC is a multi-disciplinary center that brings together 83 faculty members in basic translational and clinical research to advance immunotherapy for disease. The IIRC also encompasses clinical programs to deliver cell and gene therapies as well as first-in-human immunotherapeutics. The center is at the forefront of translating laboratory discoveries into the clinic.

Fred Hutch and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research and responsibilities will involve oversight of advanced practice providers and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations and delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community.

Faculty are expected to perform their primary activities on-site at Fred Hutch and UW.

The ideal candidate should have a record of and primary interest in cancer immunology and be engaged in laboratory-based research that could enable next generation therapies. Examples include but are not limited to cellular therapies immune checkpoints tumor microenvironment and non-viral gene editing. The selected individual will foster an environment of collaboration and productivity in cancer immunotherapy. Candidates that demonstrate a track record of peer-reviewed publications in the cancer immunology field and success in obtaining extramural funding will be prioritized.

Applicants must have an MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent) board certification in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
