Civil Engineer, Infrastructure Design I South Australia
Job Summary
Join an established team of civil engineers where you will have the opportunity to develop your Civil Engineer career through working on a variety of civil infrastructure projects with diverse scope size technical engineering requirements with a range of infrastructure clients.
You will be supporting the delivery of work packages contributing to stormwater earthworks and associated linear civil infrastructure projects for clients based locally across South Australia and those operating throughout Australia including infrastructure defence land development local municipal councils and energy sectors.
You will have support of technical and client subject matter experts both in the local Adelaide office as well as through being part of the wider AECOM business enabling you to build strong technical fundamentals under the guidance of senior engineers. As such you will be able to develop your career learning in a supportive environment with scope to work on and lead larger and more complex work packages for projects.
Key role responsibilities include:
- Supporting the planning and design of civil engineering infrastructure including roads & transport stormwater services and utilities and earthworks for infrastructure projects.
- Delivering work packages including completing detailed design engineering calculations and interpretation of site and project data.
- Contribute to stormwater design (pit and pipe layouts hydraulic checks minor drainage design) bulk earthworks support (grading plans levels coordination basic cut/fill inputs).
- Developing basic water and wastewater infrastructure (reticulation layouts tie-ins design checks).
- Propose practical approaches to new problems escalating early where needed and applying learnings from previous tasks.
- Identify discrepancies in calculations drawings models or inputs and raise them promptly for resolution.
- Support client related activities including the preparation of tenders and proposals.
- Build collaborative working relationships with internal teams across engineering and related disciplines and geographies supporting quality design and delivery outcomes for clients.
Qualifications :
To be successful in this role you will have experience as a Civil Engineer working on civil site and infrastructure design (this role wont suit graduate level applicants). You will be motivated to build your Civil Engineering career with the desire to work across a variety of projects with varying scale and client requirements as you consider what engineering disciplines you wish to focus on longer term.
You will be known for your ability to work collaboratively in teams be delivery focused and be able to problem-solve. Being open to working in a tight knit team in the Adelaide AECOM office including chipping in to help out as required will be important. The following qualifications and experience are highly desired however if you dont tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply all applications will be considered.
- Experience working on multi-discipline infrastructure projects with Defence sector experience being highly desirable.
- 25 years post-graduate experience in civil/site infrastructure design.
- Exposure to applying Austroads Australian Standards and local council/authority requirements
- Technical skills and broad background in general civil design including roads water wastewater drainage across a range of markets.
- Excellent communication skills and high quality technical and non-technical report writing.
- Process-driven and detail-oriented with a clear focus on quality checking and well-structured deliverables.
- A collaborative mindset comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams and with the ability to ask the right questions early.
Some of our clients require Australian Defence clearance for those working on projects. An ability to successfully obtain those clearance requirements will be important requirement for this role.
