POSITION SPECIFICS
The College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State is seeking an Administrative Foundations Intern for Summer 2026 for an experiential learning opportunity designed to introduce students to the operations of an academic college.
Through structured rotations handson training and professional mentorship the Administrative Foundations Intern will gain foundational administrative and professional skills while learning how an academic college functions behind the scenes.
The Administrative Foundations Intern will rotate through three core functional areas Academic Program Support Events Management and General Departmental Administrative Support and complete the following key responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and operational support to academic programs departments and college initiatives
- Communicate professionally with faculty staff students visitors and external partners
- Assist with maintaining student records tracking degree progress and processing academic forms
- Support scholarships fellowships assistantships and graduationrelated activities
- Assist with the planning coordination and execution of conferences meetings and special events
- Research venues and services; assist with reservations travel coordination and event logistics
- Draft communications prepare materials and support onsite event execution
- Coordinate daily office operations including scheduling calendars meetings and visitor inquiries
- Maintain electronic and physical files databases and records; update websites and reports
- Collect analyze and summarize data for reports presentations and program planning
- Assist with office supply inventory facilities and vendor coordination
- Support special projects and gain exposure to academic administration and faculty affairs processes
- Participate in job shadowing training and mentorship opportunities to build professional skills
Qualifications:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills; inclusive and respectful when working with others
- Ability and willingness to learn job-related software
It is preferable that candidates have completed one year of an Associate Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Management and Marketing.
Additional Information:
This is a paid internship spanning June to August 2026. Relocation and housing are not provided.
There is a possibility of this position being extended into the 2026-27 academic year and/or Summer 2027.
