The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit 5s Migrant Education Program is seeking teachers for a campus-based summer school program. Teachers will plan instruct and assess Migratory/English Language Learner students through daily on-site instruction and will accompany them during educational activities. The primary goal of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers to make a lasting impact with diverse students! The part-time contracted position reports to the Migrant Student Support Specialists and Program Supervisors.
Position Details: $23/hour
Candidate must be available for the following dates:
June 8-:00AM-3:00PM (IU5 Onboarding Summer School Inservice)
June 15-July 9 2026 8:00AM-3:00PM Monday-Thursday (In session with students)
Required Qualifications:
Current valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate
Required state clearances to work with students
Desired Qualifications:
Teaching experience preferred
Experience working with migratory students and/or English Language Learners
Reliable transportation to and from the summer campus location
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Create and utilize lesson plans following the Pennsylvania Department of Education guidelines
Provide daily on-site instruction to summer school students
Accompany students during educational activities
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs and abilities of individual students
Maintain accurate and complete records for each student
Implement and enforce all policies and rules
Participate in required professional development at the summer school in-service training
Establish and maintain effective relationships with students peers teacher aides partners coordinators and supervisors
Perform other duties as assigned
Performance Factors/Job Competencies:
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and/or independently with minimal supervision
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Knowledge of state and federal laws that impact the organization
Work Environment:
This job operates in various locations. Incumbent must have the ability to monitor students and check work in classrooms with a variety of seating and desk organization. Candidate are required to have reliable transportation to arrive on time to the teaching location.
