This role sits within the Customer & Engineering unit delivering customer servicing credit assessment and product originations technology via online and stafffacing addition to maintaining groupcritical applications you will help drive the adoption of AIdriven agentic development across Java APIs and Python servicesautomating coding testing documentation and change delivery while meeting the banks regulatory and security obligations.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement RESTful APIs in Java (Spring) using clean architecture and robust design patterns.
- Build Python services and developer tooling for AIassisted and agentic workflows (code/test/doc generation CI/CD integration).
- Design build and operate IDMC pipelines (Cloud Data Integration & Application Integration) for customer master data integration and eventdriven interfaces.
- Engineer for nonfunctional excellence across reliability security performance observability and operability.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers and stakeholders in complex project environments.
- Adhere to Westpac standards and processes to meet regulatory obligations.
- Apply an AIfirst approach to automate coding testing data mappings orchestration and documentation; orchestrate multiagent workflows with guardrails policy checks and evaluation metrics (e.g. code quality test coverage traceability).
- Strong results in programming and application design.
- Deep experience in designing developing and implementing RESTful APIs.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java.
- Proficiency with Git and Bitbucket.
- Experience with Spring and Jersey frameworks.
- Experience with AI agentic development.
- Experience with Python Informatica Siebel or Cobol is highly desirable.
- Computer Science (or closely related degree) with a major in software engineering or equivalent.
