Whats the job

The Policy Project Officer is responsible for providing drafting coordination and administrative support to policy owners and responsible officers across the institution. The role supports the development review and maintenance of policies procedures and associated documents in alignment with internal governance requirements and external regulatory frameworks applicable to university/non-university dualsector providers.

Principal accountabilities (but not limited to):

Policy development and review

  • Support policy owners and responsible officers in the development and review policies procedures and supporting documents.

  • Conduct desktop research and benchmarking activities to inform best practice for individual policies asrequired.

  • Draft policy amendment proposals asrequired.

Legislative and standards compliance support

  • Apply working knowledge ofgovernance and compliance practices including ability to source and interpret primary legislative documents and authoritative secondary documents

  • Ensure policy documentation aligns with regulatory compliance expectations when drafting or updating content.

Administrative and workflow coordination

  • Track progress of policy projects and provide administrative support to ensure timelines are met.

  • Prepare briefing materials drafts and documentationrequiredfor governance committees or consultation processes.

  • Maintainaccuraterecords version control and review schedules for policies and procedures.

Stakeholder support and communication

  • Support policy owners responsibleofficersand operational teams acrossallfunctional areas(Academic Human Resources Information Technology Legal etc).

  • Respond to staff queries about policy processes templatesformattingand document control requirements

  • Assistwith communications relating to policy updates or implementation.

Who you are:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.

  • Strong written communication skills including ability to draft clear accurate documents.

  • High attention to detail and strong administrative capability.

  • Experience in policy administration academic governance or regulatory compliance (preferably within a dual-sector or higher education institution).

  • Familiarity with higher education and vocational education and training legislation is preferred including:

  • Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act

  • National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018

  • Higher Education Support Act (HESA)

  • Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF) 2021

  • Outcome Standards for RTOs 2025 (and related government policies)

This is a full-time fixed-term contract until November 2026. This role offers hybrid flexibility and is located at our Surry Hills Campus in Sydney.
