Role: IT Asset & Depot Support Technician

Location: Salt Lake City UT 84116 (100% Onsite)

Role Overview

The IT Asset & Depot Support Technician is responsible for executing onsite IT asset lifecycle management depot operations and onboarding/offboarding activities as part of a managed services engagement. The role ensures end-user devices are properly received staged deployed tracked recovered and decommissioned in accordance with defined SLAs operational procedures and contractual scope.

This role operates primarily at an L1 support scope with a strong focus on standardized processes asset accuracy and consistent execution.

Core Responsibilities

IT Asset Lifecycle Management (Primary Focus)

  • Execute end-to-end asset lifecycle activities including receiving tagging assignment recovery and disposition of IT equipment.
  • Maintain accurate asset records in asset management and CMDB systems for laptops desktops peripherals and accessories.
  • Track loaner devices replacements ownership changes and device refresh cycles.
  • Support asset audits reconciliations and compliance requirements under managed services governance.

IT Depot Operations (Primary Focus)

  • Perform day-to-day IT depot operations including device staging imaging configuration labeling storage and readiness checks.
  • Prepare devices for new hires replacements and refreshes using approved builds and checklists.
  • Manage spare stock accessories loaner pools and depot organization.
  • Coordinate break/fix handling warranty tracking and vendor RMA workflows.
  • Proactively identify inventory gaps aging assets or operational risks and escalate to service delivery leads.

Onboarding & Offboarding Support (Primary Focus)

  • Ensure endpoint readiness for new hires prior to Day 1 aligned to onboarding SLAs.
  • Coordinate device handover desk setup and workspace IT readiness.
  • Execute offboarding processes including device recovery validation secure handling and inventory updates.
  • Support bulk onboarding/offboarding events associated with hiring waves or organizational changes.

Deskside & IMAC Support (Secondary Focus)

  • Provide onsite deskside support for approved incidents and service requests within managed services scope.
  • Perform IMAC (Install Move Add Change) activities approved through the ITSM tool.
  • Support basic troubleshooting for hardware peripherals and approved applications.
  • Escalate issues outside defined scope or requiring advanced support in line with escalation procedures.

Process SLA & Compliance Execution

  • Execute tasks strictly in accordance with SOPs runbooks and contractual scope.
  • Maintain accurate and timely ticket documentation in the ITSM platform.
  • Adhere to endpoint security data protection and access control requirements.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for asset depot and onboarding/offboarding activities.

Skills

Windows & macOS Devices

  • Hands-on support experience with Windows 10/11 and macOS endpoints.
  • Familiarity with workstation hardware accessories docking stations monitors and peripherals.

Endpoint Management Tool Familiarity

  • Working familiarity with Microsoft Intune and/or SCCM for device provisioning imaging and software deployment.
  • Familiarity with JAMF (JAMF Pro / JAMF Connect) for Mac device management and onboarding workflows.

Microsoft 365 & Productivity Applications

  • Working knowledge of core Microsoft 365 applications and services including:
    • Outlook
    • Teams
    • OneDrive
    • Word Excel PowerPoint
  • Ability to support common end-user productivity and access issues.

Service Operations

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact clearly and professionally with end users client stakeholders and internal support teams
  • Strong documentation discipline for incidents requests and asset updates.
  • Understanding of SLA-driven delivery and managed services execution.

Work Environment

  • 100% onsite role in a Salt Lake City client office.
  • Regular physical handling of IT equipment (device movement setup storage).
