Job Summary
Located in downtown Spokane KPFF is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager to help lead and grow our civil practice. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a dynamic collaborative environment and is eager to take ownership of projects clients and business growth. From day one you will play a key role in delivering complex public and private civil infrastructure projects across the Inland Northwest and beyond while contributing to strategic initiatives that expand our client base and market presence.
As a Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager you will balance technical excellence project leadership and business development responsibilities. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams mentor junior staff and serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee civil design efforts for site development projects including site planning grading drainage utilities and stormwater management systems.
- Manage projects from concept through construction including scope development scheduling budgeting resource allocation and quality control.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D AutoTurn and other design tools to review and guide production of engineering drawings perform vehicular turning analyses and support technical decision-making.
- Prepare review and approve technical reports drainage studies feasibility analyses and design presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide day-to-day project management and serve as the primary point of contact for clients ensuring expectations are met and relationships are strengthened.
- Actively participate in business development efforts including identifying new opportunities developing client relationships preparing proposals scopes of work and fee estimates and supporting go/no-go decisions.
- Collaborate with leadership to expand existing client accounts and pursue new markets repeat work and long-term partnerships.
- Coordinate with contractors clients owners subconsultants regulatory agencies and internal teams to support successful project execution.
- Research and interpret jurisdictional codes agency standards and manuals to establish design criteria and permitting pathways.
- Lead and support permitting efforts including agency coordination responses to comments and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct and/or oversee site visits to assess existing conditions support construction administration verify compliance and resolve field issues.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers fostering technical growth and promoting best practices.
- Champion sustainable and resilient civil engineering solutions that align with client goals and regional standards.
- Stay current on industry trends evolving regulations and emerging technologies and apply innovative approaches to improve project outcomes and operational efficiency.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering.
- Washington State Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
- 10 years of experience in civil engineering design and project delivery including experience leading projects and client coordination.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Experience with stormwater hydrology modeling and drainage design in Washington State.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in business development and client relationship management.
- Previous experience mentoring staff and supporting team development.
- Alternate delivery experience and Design-Build Professional (DBIA) certification.
Additional Information :
Physical Demands:
- Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
- Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
- Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking standing kneeling or navigating uneven terrain.
- Traveling to project sites or client meetings which may involve driving or flying.
Compensation:
The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidates experience education and skills. The expected pay for a qualified candidate is $100000 - $130000 annually.
