We are seeking a dedicated Mathematics Teacher to join our this role you will equip students with the analytical power and logical precision required to thrive in a world increasingly driven by data algorithms and complex problem-solving.
The Department
You will join a high-performing Mathematics department that utilizes a Mastery approach ensuring students develop a deep conceptual understanding of mathematical structures before moving to abstract applications.
The department is exceptionally well-resourced with interactive software (including Sparx Maths HegartyMaths and Geogebra) and physical manipulatives to assist in visualizing geometric and algebraic concepts.
We foster a culture of Mathematical Resilience where students are encouraged to embrace challenge and view mistakes as a vital part of the logical learning journey.
We benefit from being part of a wider regional Maths Hub providing staff with access to national research-led CPD and collaborative planning opportunities with schools across Greater Manchester.
Core Responsibilities
Delivering high-impact lessons across the mathematics curriculum including Number Algebra Ratio and Proportion Geometry and Statistics.
Teaching students to apply mathematical logic to solve multi-step problems preparing them for the increased reasoning demands of the GCSE and A-Level specifications.
Preparing Year 11 and Year 13 students for their final examinations with a particular focus on bridging the gap between pure mathematics and its application in mechanics and statistics.
Implementing effective Check for Understanding and Live Modelling techniques ensuring that the steps of a solution are clearly deconstructed and understood by all learners.
Leading extracurricular initiatives such as the UKMT Maths Challenge Cipher Clubs or targeted intervention sessions to support students in reaching their full potential.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for a specialist who can make even the most complex equations feel accessible and exciting. Requirements include:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Mathematics Statistics Engineering or a related quantitative field.
A proven ability to model mathematical thinking clearly showing students how to structure their work and communicate their reasoning with precision.
Strong subject knowledge across the current GCSE and A-Level specifications with the ability to challenge high-attainers while scaffolding for those who find the subject difficult.
A commitment to staying current with mathematical pedagogy particularly the use of cognitive load theory and retrieval practice within a maths classroom.
