Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to support a rural hospital setting with comprehensive obstetric care. This role requires a well-rounded OB nurse capable of caring for patients across antepartum labor postpartum and newborn nursery units. Candidates must be confident in managing a full scope of obstetric nursing responsibilities in a low-volume but high-acuity rural environment.
Key Responsibilities - Provide comprehensive nursing care for antepartum labor delivery postpartum and newborn nursery patients
- Monitor and assess maternal and fetal status throughout the continuum of care
- Assist with deliveries and provide intrapartum support
- Perform newborn assessments and immediate post-delivery care
- Collaborate with physicians midwives and interdisciplinary care teams
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using CPSI/Evident EMR
- Support patient and family education related to childbirth and postpartum care
- Function as OB circulator when needed
Required Qualifications - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be current and in good standing)
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience
- Experience across antepartum labor postpartum and nursery required (L&D-only experience is not sufficient)
- Current certifications required:
- ACLS
- BLS
- NRP
- STABLE
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a rural hospital setting with variable OB volumes
Preferred Qualifications - OB circulator experience
- Strong adaptability in rural or low-volume labor & delivery units
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Ability to work independently while supporting a small care team
Additional Information - Day shift assignment
- Approximately 20 30 deliveries per month
- Must be comfortable working across the full obstetric continuum
- Holiday coverage may be required
- Strong emphasis on maternal and neonatal safety and competency across all OB areas
