Job Summary: We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Benefits Administrator with deep expertise in U.S. employee benefits regulations and compliance. This role is responsible for administering benefits programs ensuring strict adherence to federal and state laws and supporting data-driven decision-making through EDI and SQL capabilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong regulatory knowledge analytical skills and experience working with HRIS and benefits systems.
Key Responsibilities: Administer and manage U.S. employee benefits programs including health retirement (401(k)) welfare and leave of absence programs Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. federal and state regulations including ERISA ACA IRC Sections 401(k) and 125 HIPAA FMLA and ADA Interpret regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to benefits programs policies and procedures Manage eligibility enrollment life event changes and terminations within HRIS and benefits platforms Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on benefits compliance and respond to internal and external audits Coordinate and support annual open enrollment including system configuration employee communications and vendor coordination Maintain plan documents such as Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) Form 5500 filings and nondiscrimination testing support Partner with legal payroll and finance teams to ensure compliance and accurate reporting Utilize EDI to manage data exchange between HRIS payroll and third-party vendors Write and optimize SQL queries to extract validate and analyze benefits data Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy compliance and proper deductions Monitor vendor performance and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs)
Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration Finance or related field 3 years of experience in U.S. benefits administration or HR operations Strong working knowledge of U.S. benefits laws and compliance requirements including: ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) ACA (Affordable Care Act) IRC Section 401(k) and Section 125 HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Hands-on experience with HRIS systems (e.g. Workday ADP Oracle or similar platforms) Proficiency in EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) processes and troubleshooting Strong SQL skills for data extraction reporting and validation High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications(Not Must): Professional certifications such as CEBS PHR SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP Experience supporting U.S.-based employees in a global or offshore environment Familiarity with COBRA administration and benefits taxation Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables formulas data analysis) Experience with benefits audits Form 1095-C reporting and ACA compliance tracking
