Job Summary
We are seeking a highly capable commercially minded E-commerce & Systems Developer to support and accelerate the growth of our e-commerce operations and internal technology stack. This is a hands-on role with real ownership focused on building integrating and optimizing systems that underpin our e-commerce inventory supplier and customer workflows.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing custom APIs expanding our system integrations and contributing to the design and build of a bespoke Document / Data Management System (DMS) that connects e-commerce inventory suppliers CRM and accounting.
Key Responsibilities
E-commerce & Systems Development
Design build and maintain custom APIs to support e-commerce growth and operational automation.
Develop and extend a bespoke internal DMS to centralize and streamline operational data flows.
Support and enhance the e-commerce platform through backend integrations and system optimization.
Automation & Inventory Integration
Build automatic Purchase Order (PO) creation workflows driven by sales stock thresholds and supplier rules.
Integrate automated POs directly into the inventory management system.
Improve order and back-order automation reducing manual intervention and operational risk.
Customer & Supplier Integrations
Develop and manage customer-facing and supplier-facing APIs including:
Live or scheduled supplier stock feeds.
Customer order status and back-order visibility.
Improve customer communication workflows around order confirmation delays and fulfillment updates.
CRM & Accounting Integration
Integrate e-commerce and operational data with the CRM to improve customer insight segmentation and communication.
Build and maintain customer and order feeds into Xero ensuring accurate timely and automated accounting data.
Support reconciliation reporting and data accuracy across systems.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency scalability and resilience across the tech stack.
Document systems APIs and workflows clearly for internal use.
Work closely with e-commerce purchasing and operations teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
Requirements
Technical Skills
Strong experience in backend development (e.g. PHP Python or similar).
Proven experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
Solid understanding of databases (MySQL / PostgreSQL or similar).
Experience integrating third-party systems (inventory CRM and accounting platforms such as Xero).
Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and order management workflows.
Experience with automation data feeds and system-to-system integrations.
Desirable Skills
Experience building or contributing to bespoke ERP DMS or inventory systems.
Knowledge of webhook-based integrations and real-time data syncing.
Frontend experience (JavaScript frameworks) is an advantage but not essential.
Experience working in retail e-commerce or supply-chain-driven environments.
