ESS part of Compass Group provides integrated hospitality and support services to the Australian Defence Force across Australia. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fitness Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our on-base gymnasium and aquatic facilities.
In this hands-on supervisory role youll ensure the safe compliant and efficient running of all fitness and recreation spaces supporting the health and wellbeing of Defence personnel through high-quality facilities and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of the gym and pool ensuring compliance with water quality safety and legislative standards
Supervise facility users and maintain emergency response readiness and lifeguard coverage
Lead inspections enforce site-specific safety instructions and maintain compliance documentation
Manage staff rosters monitor absenteeism and support performance and training
Support Sport & Recreation compliance standards across all fitness and aquatic areas
Ensure facilities and equipment are clean well-maintained and safe for use
Contribute to a proactive culture of safety wellbeing and teamwork
About You
3 years experience in a similar supervisory or fitness facility management role
Cert III or IV in Fitness (essential)
Lifeguard Award (current)
Level 1 First Aid Certificate and ability to administer oxygen in emergencies
Proven ability to manage staff rosters and performance
Excellent communication skills and a respectful inclusive approach when working with diverse communities
Current Australian Drivers Licence and reliable transport (multi-site travel may be required)
Strong commitment to safety teamwork and operational excellence
Australian Citizenship is mandatory (Defence security clearance required)
Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check and Defence clearance
