Technical Partners are seeking an exceptional Engineering Manager to lead maintenance excellence and engineering strategy at one of the UKs most significant steel manufacturing sites.
Our clients Corby site spans 150 acres and supports a workforce of approximately 350 people (indirectly reporting into this role). Each year the site manufactures tonnes of thin-wall welded steel tubes and hollow sections supplying critical industries across the UK and beyond.
This is not a steady-state role. The site is currently undergoing a 30 million transformation programme to modernise operations and establish a net-zero tube manufacturing facility. As Engineering Manager you will play a central role in delivering this vision shaping engineering strategy overseeing capital investment and building a world-class maintenance function fit for the future.

The role:
- Take ownership of engineering at scale within a complex heavy industrial environment
- Lead a major transformation programme focused on sustainability and operational excellence
- Influence long-term strategy as part of the Operational Leadership Team
- Build and develop high-performing teams while embedding a culture of reliability and continuous improvement

Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Works Manager you will:
- Lead inspire and develop a large multidisciplinary engineering function (100 reports)
- Define and deliver the sites maintenance excellence and asset reliability strategy
- Drive best-in-class engineering practices including FMEA reliability-centred maintenance and continuous improvement frameworks
- Ensure full compliance with all engineering safety and statutory standards
- Own and optimise the maintenance and repair budget ensuring effective allocation of resources
- Lead planning and execution of planned shutdowns refurbishments and capital projects
- Play a pivotal role in capital expenditure planning and delivery aligned to site transformation goals
- Improve operational performance through enhanced OEE asset availability and reliability
- Build a strong talent pipeline including apprenticeships and succession planning
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive safety performance and strategic outcomes
What Youll Bring
Were looking for a leader who combines technical expertise with strategic vision:
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Electrical or related Engineering discipline (Chartered or working toward preferred)
- Significant experience within heavy or complex manufacturing environments
- Proven leadership of large engineering and maintenance teams
- Deep knowledge of maintenance excellence reliability engineering and performance improvement
- Strong commercial awareness including budget management and capital planning
- Ability to influence at senior level and operate effectively within a leadership team
- A passion for safety sustainability and continuous improvement
- Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced evolving environment
