The Opportunity

The Life Support Training Educator is a key member of the Learning & Development Team providing education and support related to life saving skills for individuals teamsprogramsand the organization across all sites affiliated with IWK Health
The Life Support Training Educatoris responsible forplanningdeliveringand evaluating life-saving skills training across the includes Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Life Support (PALS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and other resuscitation or emergency response training programs in alignment with national guidelines and health Centre protocols.

They ensurethat clinical and non-clinical staffmaintaincurrent certification understand emergency procedures and can respond effectively to life-threatening situations. The educator may alsoparticipatein clinical audits mock codes and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient safety and emergency preparedness.

Your Qualifications

  • Successful completion of degree or diploma as it relates to your regulated profession.
  • Current professional healthcare registration/license (ie: Respiratory Therapy Registered Nurse Paramedic).
  • Certified instructor status in BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP an asset.
  • Certified in Instructor Trainer (IT) level with Heart and Stroke/Canadian Pediatric Society an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of recent clinical experience providing resuscitation in acute or critical care emergency services or a related field required.
  • Experience in adult education simulation-based learning or clinical teaching is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Skilled in adult learning and educational approach to learning.
  • Demonstrated time management communication (verbal and written) organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated initiative and innovative problem solving.
  • Proven team building and leadership skills.
  • Competency in other languages considered an asset.
