Role Overview


Abaxx Exchange and Clearing is seeking an entrepreneurial and highly experienced professional to lead product development and market expansion across energy transition & environmental derivatives markets.


This senior role will focus on building and scaling products in carbon renewable energy (wind solar and temperature) and related environmental markets while also contributing to the broader commodities portfolio including crude oil and refined products where strategically aligned.


This position requires a recognized subject matter expert with a strong industry network capable of driving innovation liquidity growth and market adoption in both green field emerging and established derivatives markets.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop go-to-market strategies to position Abaxx as a leader in energy transition derivatives.
  • Define and execute the exchanges international environmental/energy transition strategy.
  • Lead the design development and launch of derivatives products across while providing commercial and technical input for the wider team:
    • Carbon markets (compliance and voluntary)
    • Renewable energy (wind solar and related certificates)
    • Environmental products and energy transition instruments
  • Also evaluate opportunities to expand into crude oil and refined products within the broader portfolio.
  • Identify structural inefficiencies in existing OTC markets and design exchange-based solutions to improve transparency capital efficiency and risk management.
  • Assess regional regulatory tax and market structure considerations impacting carbon/environmental trading and derivatives adoption.
  • Develop and manage senior-level relationships (with the support of commercial strategy and sales team members) with relevant external stakeholders such as Utilities & energy companies Corporates participating in carbon & renewable markets governments cross border financial institutions and asset managers.
  • Collaborate with clearing operations and technology teams to ensure robust and scalable post-trade processes.
  • Partner with legal compliance and regulatory teams to support approvals and market access initiatives.
  • Provide market intelligence and feedback to senior management on competitive dynamics client demand and regional trends.
  • Represent the exchange externally at industry conferences regulatory discussions and client forums.
  • Drive adoption and liquidity of listed products through strategic engagement with market participants.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive experience (typically 1015 years) in commodities derivatives and environmental markets.
  • Deep technical knowledge of Carbon markets (compliance or voluntary) Renewable energy markets (wind solar temperature) energy commodities (crude oil refined products).
  • Proven track record in product development market building or trading
  • Strong existing network across global energy environmental and financial markets.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build markets from early stages.

  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of revenue growth client acquisition and liquidity development.
  • Ability to engage credibly with both trading desks and operations teams on complex lifecycle and infrastructure topics.
