The School of Trades within the Faculty of Applied & Technical Studies invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in the Automotive Department. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in Automotive Foundation and all levels of Automotive Apprenticeship.

We seek Red Seal Automotive Service Technicians with teaching experience who share our passion for and commitment to excellence in trades training in a student-centered environment; who successfully integrate their scholarship into their teaching; and who are experienced in the delivery of high-quality service in communities of practice.

As a teaching-oriented institution and department we are seeking a collegial energetic and innovative individual who has successful teaching experience and who communicates effectively with students both in and out of the classroom; is able to instruct across a range of the courses offered by the department; and can develop new and innovative courses. The successful applicant must be able to incorporate or reflect Indigenous perspectives or ways of teaching and learning into their curriculum.

The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in departmental activities service events and initiatives. A commitment to an ongoing program of professional development is required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a Provincial Instructors Diploma a Red Seal as an Automotive Technician and a minimum of five years working in the automotive industry.
