The Transportation Market Leader Central Canada is a Regional leadership role focused on driving the strategy vision growth and performance of the Transportation market across the three Provinces. This position involves ongoing collaboration with partners across Canada the U.S. and globally to support GHDs market growth within the core businesses of Rail and Transit Highways Roads and Bridges Ports and Aviation from planning engineering design and execution phases of solutions for our clients. The Transportation Market Leader will work closely with the Clients and Markets Lead for Ontario and the National Transportation Market Lead as well as the other Central Canada Regional Market Leaders in Environment Energy and Resources Water Property & Buildings and more. Key collaborators in this role also include the National Market and Sector Leaders Business Group Leaders Client Relationship Managers and Service Line Leaders.
This roles primary responsibilities are to develop and execute the strategic vision for the Transportation Market across Central Canada while also contributing to the broader Canadian Transportation strategy. With a focus on driving growth in private public and federal sectors the role emphasizes delivering sustainable profitable outcomes fostering innovation and advancing GHDs transportation business. The Transportation Market Leader will work on positioning GHD strategically through differentiated value propositions thought leadership and strategic partnerships. Leading the development of proposals that support growth and diversification of the transportation market this leader will also ensure alignment with GHDs core values and transportation strategy.
Key responsibilities also include fostering cross-market collaboration to execute complex multi-market multi-discipline projects supporting talent development and leading large-scale transportation initiatives as Project Director where needed. This role will include strong client leadership responsibilities for key client accounts in the Transportation market.

In this dynamic role you will be involved in:
- Further develop GHDs Central Canada transportation business strategy with a focus on long-term opportunities that align with GHDs growth aspirations
- Leading business development efforts for Central Canada transportation sector while collaborating with global national and regional leaders to build a unified approach
- Understanding the transportation market trends with a forward-looking strategy toward future projects and emerging technologies in transportation.
- Identify areas of practice within Region based on client feedback and/or market trends (service lines) that require enhancement to meet present or future opportunities
- Strengthening relationships with new and existing clients while expanding GHDs presence in the transportation market across Ontario Canada and the Americas consistent with GHDs enterprise strategy and business plans. Providing leadership on key client accounts in the Transportation market
- Supporting effective project delivery as a Project Director ensuring successful outcomes on transportation projects on strategic projects for key clients.
- Driving innovation by integrating Digital and Advisory services into transportation market offerings with a focus on sustainability and efficiency
- Collaborating with other Market Leaders and Client Managers across sectors such as Environment Water Energy and Resources and Property & Buildings to win multidisciplinary projects
- Representing GHD at industry events conferences and trade shows while elevating GHDs brand in the Transportation Sector
- Attracting top talent to grow and strengthen the Transportation capabilities at GHD
What you bring to the team:
- A strong background in Engineering Transportation Planning or a related field with at least 10 years of experience leading transportation projects and teams
- Proven experience in developing and operationalizing successful corporate strategies for the transportation market
- Deep understanding of Central Canadas transportation market including trends future challenges and opportunities across Canada
- Broad technical and delivery experience across both the rail and transit and highways roads and bridges sectors
- Deep industry connections across key Agencies across Major Provincial Agencies (Metrolinx MTO IO) as well as Major Municipalities and Transit Agencies
- Industry knowledge and experience within Port and Airport Authorities and/or Class 1 Rail are preferred but not required.
- Deep industry partner connections across contractors and consultants working across Central Canada.
- Outstanding leadership and communication skills with experience managing teams and influencing stakeholders across all levels of the organization
- Commercial acumen with a strong focus on client relationships growth and service excellence
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and thought leadership within the transportation sector
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM software is a plus
- Strong writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly
- Willingness and ability to travel
Performance
Achieve sustainable profitable growth of the Central Canadian Transportation Market revenue and pipeline in line with Canadian and global growth strategies
- Drive service and market diversification of the transportation market offerings across existing and emergent business
- Develop a strong project pipeline using business intelligence tools such as Salesforce
- Manage risks and opportunities in the transportation market ensuring strategic recruitment and talent development
- Improve tender/proposal success rates and ensure effective budget management
- Champion an integrated market approach across GHDs various service offerings
