Job Summary
Job Title: Staff Engineer Systems Test Engineering
Location: San Diego CA (100% Onsite)
Duration: 2 Years Contract
Job Description:
Join the engineering team within Qualcomms IP (Intellectual Property) division focused on developing and executing test solutions for commercially available mobile devices. This role involves designing and validating 5G NR / LTE protocol stack test scenarios performing deep 3GPP protocol analysis and working in a lab-based testing environment.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in cellular technologies (5G/4G/LTE/NR) enjoys hands-on testing and can develop innovative approaches to call scenario validation and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed test plans based on high-level system requirements
- Design and execute call scenarios across cellular technologies (5G NR / LTE)
- Perform protocol testing in lab environments using industry tools (e.g. UXM E7515)
- Conduct 3GPP protocol analysis and troubleshooting
- Analyze post-process and present test results to engineering and legal teams
- Research 3GPP standards and specifications
- Identify and execute GCF compliance tests
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering team
Required Skills & Technologies:
- Strong experience in:
- 5G / 4G LTE / NR (SA & NSA)
- 3GPP protocol analysis
- Protocol stack (PHY MAC layers)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Call scenario development
- Debugging and troubleshooting
- Lab testing environments
- Familiarity with tools like:
- UXM E7515 (or similar test equipment)
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors 4 years experience
OR Masters 3 years
OR PhD 2 years
(in Engineering Computer Science or related field)
