This is a hybrid strategic-and-leadership role within the System Technology and Adaptive Intelligence (STAI) team in Gas Power Engineering (GPE) whose organizational vision is to create An artificial intelligence enhanced electric power & CO2 focused innovation team that supports and incubates new ventures and ideas through diligent engineering to provide cleaner more flexible power to the world.We are seeking an experienced AI Transformation Manager to lead AI strategy program execution and people leadership across STAIs developer teams. Based at the Engineering Innovation Center (EIC) in Warsaw Poland one of GE Vernovas key engineering sites this role owns the AI strategic roadmap for Gas Power Engineering while directly managing software engineering teams in the Pillar Engineering Tools (PET) and Advanced Design Tools (ADT) groups. The position reports to the EIC Warsaw site executive with team members maintaining dotted-line relationships to their functional leaders to ensure alignment with global STAI technical direction alongside the local management presence required for Poland-based employees.
This role will turn AI strategy into delivery by shaping priorities and leading the teams building engineering applications that incorporate AI. It is central to strengthening STAIs presence within the EIC Warsaw site structure accelerating AI adoption across engineering products and supporting developer teams through the changes driven by AI. By connecting strategic planning with execution the AI Transformation Manager will help scale STAI-led initiatives across Gas Power Engineering and contribute to broader AI solutions across GE Vernova.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
This is a people leadership role requiring strong technical depth and the ability to shape AI strategy oversee execution and guide key technical decisions.
AI Strategy & Program Leadership
Define and drive the AI vision objectives and roadmap for Gas Power Engineering in partnership with senior leaders and subject matter experts.
Identify evaluate and prioritize AI use cases aligning initiatives to business value streams and strategic goals.
Lead planning execution and delivery of AI programs using Agile/SAFe principles ensuring quality timeliness and measurable outcomes.
Establish technical requirements KPIs and governance for AI initiatives including responsible AI compliance and continuous improvement.
Build and lead AI education and upskilling programs to improve AI literacy across Gas Power Engineering.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including software engineers data scientists architects QA and responsible AI specialists.
People Leadership & Team Development
Serve as the solid-line manager for PET and ADT software engineering teams based at EIC Warsaw in coordination with dotted-line functional leaders.
Set clear expectations provide feedback support career development and build succession and competency plans.
Foster an inclusive collaborative and high-performing team culture focused on innovation learning and knowledge sharing.
Partner with HR to recruit onboard develop and retain strong engineering talent.
AI Adoption & Technical Transformation
Lead AI adoption within engineering tool teams by integrating AI capabilities into products and developer workflows.
Assess capability gaps and drive targeted upskilling and reskilling in AI/ML technologies.
Oversee delivery of AI-enabled engineering applications and identify opportunities to expand the use of ML computer vision and generative AI across STAI teams.
Technical Governance & Delivery Quality
Provide technical oversight for PET and ADT software solutions ensuring alignment with architectural standards and engineering best practices.
Guide critical decisions on software architecture technology selection integration testing code quality and documentation.
Promote standardization of development tools frameworks and ways of working across teams.
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership
Represent STAI within the EIC Warsaw site structure and support alignment on local priorities and needs.
Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders translating AI concepts into actionable plans and requirements.
Partner with senior leadership on broader GE Vernova and enterprise AI initiatives.
Manage dependencies risks roadblocks and stakeholder expectations in a dynamic environment.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Stay current on emerging AI technologies and apply innovative solutions that improve engineering tools and program outcomes.
Continuously improve delivery processes resource planning risk management and execution discipline.
Required Qualifications:
Masters degree in Engineering Computer Science or a related technical field from an accredited university.
Major experience in engineering software development or technology leadership.
Significant experience in AI/ML including areas such as supervised and unsupervised learning computer vision and large language models.
Proven experience leading technical or software engineering teams in a matrixed global organization.
Demonstrated success in program management or technical leadership with strong project delivery outcomes.
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) Agile/SAFe methodologies and program/project management practices.
Desired Characteristics:
PhD in Machine Learning Computer Science Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Strong expertise in AI data science machine learning computer vision and generative AI.
Understanding of Gas Power business processes especially within Engineering.
Experience managing budgets planning resources and tracking spend.
Ability to lead teams through technology-driven change and organizational transformation.
Strong communication influencing and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Strategic mindset with the ability to connect AI initiatives to business goals.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS Azure) MLOps and engineering software environments.
Demonstrated customer focus problem-solving ability and commitment to continuous improvement.
Familiarity with GE Vernova Way principles.
