Description & Requirements

The Senior Operations Specialist provides experienced senior-level operational research and communications support for theBroad Trauma Initiative(BTI). This role is intended for a seasoned professional with at least 5 years of relevant experience and is responsible for independently planning and executing BTI events and convenings leading cross-institutional communications efforts managing digital engagement to support research visibility and study recruitment and supporting BTI-related research activities.

The position supports research programs and initiatives led by Dr. Karestan Koenen spanning the Broad Institute Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Massachusetts General Hospital. The role works closely with and reports directly to Alyssa Fuller Director of Community Outreach Engagement and Communications the Koenen labs leadership team and institutional partners and requires demonstrated experience exercising independent judgment managing complex workflows and coordinating across multiple teams and institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Management & Program Support

Independently plan coordinate and execute BTI-sponsored events symposiums convenings and conferences including logistics scheduling speaker coordination materials and on-site or virtual support.

Manage complex event timelines deliverables and dependencies to ensure successful execution across institutions.

Coordinate with internal teams and institutional offices to support event approvals space reservations contracts and technical needs drawing on prior experience navigating institutional processes.

Lead post-event follow-up documentation and communications with minimal supervision.

Communications & Content Management

Lead the development production and ongoing maintenance of a monthly newsletter highlighting research events and initiatives across the Broad Institute Harvard T.H.

Chan School of Public Health and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Independently coordinate content collection editing and distribution in collaboration with investigators staff and institutional partners.

Manage and update team website content ensuring accuracy consistency and alignment with institutional standards and communications best practices.

Develop and implement clear consistent messaging aligned with BTI priorities and informed by prior experience in institutional or research communications.

Support study dissemination through reporting website updates and social media content creation.

Social Media & Study Recruitment Support

Lead and manage social media efforts across platforms (e.g. LinkedIn Instagram Facebook TikTok) to promote research studies events and initiatives leveraging prior experience running accounts for large institutions or complex projects.

Develop and maintain a strategic social media content calendar to ensure consistent engagement and alignment with research and recruitment goals.

Support participant recruitment by creating and disseminating study-related content in coordination with research teams and institutional guidelines.

Monitor engagement and recruitment metrics and apply data-informed adjustments to improve reach and effectiveness.

Research & Community Engagement Support

Provide experienced operational support for BTI-related research initiatives including building maintaining and managing data collection systems (e.g. REDCap) in collaboration with investigators and research teams.

Administer study operations with a high degree of independence including coordinating workflows tracking timelines and deliverables and maintaining accurate study documentation.

Support the assembly implementation and ongoing operations of multiple Community

Advisory Boards (CABs) that meet routinely and play a central role in informing and shaping BTI research. Responsibilities include managing logistical operations such as scheduling meetings coordinating participant compensation and reimbursements preparing materials documenting discussions and supporting follow-up actions to ensure community input is effectively integrated into research activities.

Coordinate research-related meetings site activities and cross-institutional collaboration drawing on prior experience supporting multi-site or multi-partner research efforts.

Outreach & Coordination

Support outreach efforts by identifying and engaging potential collaborators partner organizations and community groups relevant to BTI initiatives.

Serve as a point of coordination across institutions to support consistent communication and engagement efforts.

Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in operations research administration program support or communications roles of similar scope and complexity.

Bachelors degree in a related discipline required; Masters degree preferred.

Demonstrated experience independently supporting events research operations and communications initiatives in academic research or institutional settings.

Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts and digital communications for large institutions research centers or complex projects.

Strong organizational analytical and communication skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Ability to work independently under general supervision and manage competing priorities.

Hands-on experience with REDCap data collection systems project management software and website content management required.

The expected base pay range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule. Broad provides pay ranges representing its reasonable and good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to relevant skills experience education qualifications and other factors permissible by law.
