The opportunity

We have an exciting short term temporary opportunity for a Project Officer to join our Programs Branch delivering the Broken Hill Environmental Lead Program (BHELP).

The Project Officer performs project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects in line with established objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate tasks workflows and program documentation to support program delivery
  • Contribute to and manage projects including cross-agency coordination
  • Provide high-level administrative and coordination support including managing program workflows record keeping agenda preparation and minute drafting
  • Prepare briefings correspondence and advice on a range of issues
  • Coordinate and deliver education activities within the Broken Hill community and help maintain the program website
  • Support the broader team in delivering BHELP priorities including some field based work

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience delivering projects or programs within a government or community focused setting
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationship across teams and with community stakeholders
  • Sound judgement initiative and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic operations environment
  • A reasonable level of health and fitness and willingness to undertake field based work as required

About the team

Programs Branch Broken Hill Environmental Lead Program

The Broken Hill Environmental Lead Program is a long-standing NSW Government initiative delivered in partnership with the Far West Local Health District and Maari Ma Health Aboriginal Corporation. The program focuses on:

  • community education and awareness
  • research and environmental monitoring
  • remediation of impacted homes

The EPA has been embedded in the Broken Hill community for over a decade delivering targeted interventions to address legacy lead contamination from historical mining activities.
