Job Summary
As a Business Systems Specialist you will be responsible for the deployment configuration education and maintenance of the engineering suite of applications to support the Engineering IT strategy and providing a technical lead on the development and release of improvements to the ERP system.
Job Responsibilities
- Required to follow all HSE rules and regulations. Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
- Provides the IT vision and strategy required to meet the current and future business requirements
- Directs the implementation and maintenance of systems and services providing essential business functions while remaining aware of how IT downtime affects the business.
- Test and verify new functionality in conjunction with nominated business leads.
- Key interface with the Engineering IT at all UK sites.
- Develop new functionality to improve production needs.
- Assist nominated business leads with analysis of historical/statistical information.
- Responsible for development and adherence to IT costs budget.
- Maintain the ERP system and manage associated change requests.
- Lead the Functional areas in proper Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) utilization deployment and upgrades.
- Mentoring high performing teams to developing the right skills and capabilities required the IT Strategy.
- Working as effective member of multi locational team often requiring demonstration of leadership qualities.
- Work with Process Improvement Teams across the organization to understand and improve the business.
- Make recommendations develop and / or leverage best practices and professional experience.
- Provide business guidance and strategy to leverage current business systems capabilities.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in:
- Information Systems
- Computer Science
- Business Administration
- Or a related field
- Some roles prefer or require a masters degree (e.g. MBA with tech focus)
Experience
- 25 years in:
- Business analysis
- Systems analysis
- IT support or enterprise systems
- Experience working with:
- ERP systems (like SAP Oracle)
- CRM platforms (e.g. Salesforce)
- Business process improvement projects
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Systems integration
- Database concepts (SQL often required)
- Software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Familiarity with tools such as:
- Microsoft Excel (advanced)
- Power BI or Tableau
- Project management tools (Jira Trello)
- Ability to:
- Gather and document requirements
- Perform system testing and validation
- Troubleshoot system issues
Business & Analytical Skills
- Process mapping and workflow analysis
- Data analysis and reporting
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Knowledge of business operations and strategy
