Job Title: Senior Corporate Counsel

Salary:From 83997 (Depending on experience)

Location: Peterborough Cambridgeshire

The Opportunity

Caterpillar seeks an experienced Senior Corporate Counsel to support business locations on labor and employment matters across the Europe Africa and Middle East region.

Role Summary

This role supports the global Human Resources strategy for a diverse and multifaceted organization of over 100000 full-time personnel located throughout the world. This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented and highly motivated attorney to join a world-class legal team and work on complex and sophisticated matters for an iconic global company.

What You Will Do

• Deliver legal counsel and support of our regional business operations on a wide range of labour and employment matters

• Establish and maintain relationships credibility and trust with Human Resources and business leadership stakeholders and Legal Services colleagues across a global organization

• Collaborate with colleagues to provide strategic employment and labour law counsel and drive successful outcomes in complex and highly sensitive matters

• Manage disputes from claim through litigation including the retention and direction of external counsel as necessary

• Identify and assess legal risks and new developments and advise internal business partners and leadership on development and implementation of policies and procedures

• Provide legal training based on risk assessment strategic objectives and legal developments

What You Will Have

Legal Function: Knowledge of the major responsibilities accountabilities and organization of the legal function or department; ability to provide legal consulting advice and assistance.
Level Working Knowledge:

• Working knowledge of employment and labor law practice experience managing matters for global clients in European jurisdictions through a large law firm or combination of firm and private corporate settings

• Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate effectively with senior level managers and both in-house and outside counsel

Risk Management: Knowledge of processes tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organizations exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
Level Working Knowledge:

• Good business acumen and experience developing and recommending practical and strategic approaches to legal challenges facing business clients

Legal Analysis: Knowledge of methods and tools used in legal analysis; ability to read interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and factual information. Level Working Knowledge

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Level Working Knowledge:

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit receive and accurately interpret ideas information and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours. Level Extensive Experience:

• Excellent communication skills with a commitment to integrity professionalism collegiality and keeping stakeholders appropriately informed

Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives projects groups or activities making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. Level Working Knowledge

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches tools techniques for recognizing anticipating and resolving organizational operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Level Extensive Experience

Resource Management: Knowledge of the resources required to achieve business objectives; ability to plan mobilize and distribute resources to fulfil business objectives and plans. Level Basic Understanding

Top Candidates Will Also Have

• Prior in-house counsel experience

• Flexibility and eagerness to work on broad range of legal matters

• Ability to effectively navigate and work efficiently in a matrix organization

Additional Information

• Ability to travel internationally (up to 15%).

• This role is an onsite position and will be performed from the office five days per week.
