Job Description:
The Senior Manager Engineering Management leads a multidisciplinary engineering team including Mechanical Systems Integration and Test Software Electrical Analogue and Digital engineers. This role provides both leadership and technical direction and oversight to individuals within the group as well as ensuring engineering processes and practices are in place for successful execution of multiple programs. Additionalresponsibilities include estimating labor capacity and other resources as required to deliver engineering work products while adhering to budget and schedule
commitments.
Essential Functions:
- Leads a team of 30 engineers including direct reports first line managers and technical subject matter experts (SMEs) across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Creates and executes on workforce and staffing plans to ensure the necessary engineering talent is available to accomplish business goals of the site.
- Implements and improves engineering processes tools and best practices to achieve consistent and repeatable execution of engineering tasks across programs.
- Leads performance management and career development efforts of team to enable a pipeline of capable engineers includes mentoring and coaching engineers in the analysis design build integration test validation verification documentation and/or maintenance of products.
- Manage budgets and ensure department employees are fully utilized and deconflicted from demands across programs to meet budget and schedule commitments.
- Partners with Leadership team Business Development and Program Management to ensure strategy alignment execution of programs and cross-team collaboration to achieve business objectives.
- Establish the technical baseline for and maintain technical performance measures and metrics for programs.
- Lead technical approach and estimating for proposals of new programs and supports planning of engineering tasks for individual programs including scheduling and budgeting and allocating resources to the tasks.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance to team to execute engineering tasks on programs and leads root cause corrective action investigations for technical issues on programs.
- Oversee and review the technical products for individual programs throughout the development lifecycle including design gate reviews such as SRR PDR CDR TRR and MRR.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related lieu of a degree minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum 5 years management experience managing across different engineering disciplines.
- Minimum 5 Years experience developing products within the defense industry.
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance
- Ability to travel approximately 5-10%.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Deep experience in Electrical Engineering and prior work experience within the Defense industry.
- Strong understanding of both PCB hardware and FPGA design development flows.
- Experience in system level development requirements definition analysis integration and risk mitigation for electronic system projects.
- Experience with identifying resources skill gaps along with implementing corrective action plans to resolve.
- Strong team player with experience managing highly technical teams.
- Track record of being highly collaborative with a proven ability to quickly establish trust and credibility among peers and customers.
- Ability to communicate confidently and concisely with both engineers and executive management.
