Job Summary

Description

The Environmental Compliance Assistant provides support to the universitys environmental compliance programs. The Environmental Compliance Assistant reports to the Safety and Compliance Manager who falls under Environmental Health and Safety. Responsibilities include assisting with administrative tasks data management field data collection and research related to wastewater drinking water and stormwater. The role helps maintain accurate environmental data and assists with compliance activities.



Responsibilities
  • Assist with inspections audits and assessments of campus facilities to support environmental and
    safety compliance efforts.
  • Help prepare documentation records and reports related to inspections training and compliance
    activities.
  • Support the delivery of safety training outreach and educational materials.
  • Provide general assistance with environmental and waste management activities as appropriate.
  • Support EH&S staff in promoting a culture of safety environmental compliance and risk awareness
    across campus.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with two or more years of experience in an office or administrative support position. College or other relevant post-secondary coursework may substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis. Testing may be required to assess competency on word processing software.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree.
Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate ( is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:
(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree or obtaining a degree in a related field and/or experience in environmental compliance (stormwater environmental programs environmental inspections regulatory environmental agencies etc. )

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

Experience with office productivity tools including spreadsheets word processing and basic database systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office Suite. Willingness to learn new systems processes and analytical methods. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently.
