You will research build implement and maintain appropriate financial reporting controls and analyses for the division while identifying and driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. This role also involves assisting with the implementation of technical solutions for accounting processes responding to analytical requests from a wide range of stakeholders and determining the most effective approaches to sourcing and analyzing financial addition you will recommend interpret monitor and implement financial reporting changes and updates to accounting policies to ensure ongoing compliance with IFRS OSFI CLHIA and other regulatory requirements including the adoption of new accounting one of the regions top employers and be part of something that truly makes a Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo ON a minimum of two (2) assigned consecutive days every other week plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum youll do:Design and maintain investment models business plans department budgets and integrate new assets into investment systems and the general asset pricing and valuation across fixed income derivatives and other asset classes including monthly price setups using Bloomberg and Investment Technology LICAT capital components (FX and derivatives) and related regulatory and OSFI derivative disclosures including collateral and counterparty market value monthly quarterly and annual journal entries account reconciliations to support accurate financial financial reporting for general fund and segregated funds including financial statements cash flow reporting portfolio reporting note disclosures and MIS and review various schedules for input into the segregated fund semi-annual and annual private equity infrastructure and real estate reporting including capital contributions distributions pooling entries funding transactions and specialized quarterly and annual reporting Par investment income and asset reporting including dividend scale inputs deferred realized gains tracking and policyholder marketing investment asset and income data to support income tax reporting CIF analysis financial statement notes MD&A disclosures and Board and committee internal and external audits regulatory reporting (OSFI StatsCan) and DBRS rating processes through accurate analysis and pricing outliers valuation discrepancies and system issues and support system enhancements accounting changes and regulatory and maintain accounting models procedures documentation and internal controls to ensure compliance with IFRS OSFI and CLHIA and communicate drivers of investment performance and financial results to management and business partners providing clear insights and process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency accuracy and risk guidance and mentorship to Financial Analysts and collaborate crossfunctionally on complex accounting and reporting in department division and company wide projects on an ad-hoc youll bring:CPA designation (or international equivalent) and postsecondary education in accounting business administration or a related 3 years of relevant experience preferably within life insurance or financial knowledge of general accounting principles accounting standards and policies and financial controls; insurance accounting knowledge is an understanding of actuarial concepts and how they interact with investment and financial analytical problemsolving decisionmaking and prioritization skills with the ability to assess business risk and apply sound working knowledge of finance and administration systems including advanced Excel communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly explain complex financial information to diverse leadership customer focus adaptability to change and commitment to continuous learning and technical in it for you:Career Growth: Regular learning sessions and developmentopportunitiesTotal Rewards: Incentive pay annual salary reviews employer-paid benefits and pensionmatchingTime Away: Competitive vacation plus one paid volunteer day each yearFlexibility: Healthy work-life balance with employee wellness always top of mind complemented by a dress for your day approachAt Equitable were committed to fair pay and an inclusive accessible hiring experience.
