Summary of Job Duties:
**Shift will be discussed at the interview**The Orthopedic & Spine Hospital (TOSH) UAMS Healths brand-new surgical hospital is looking for passionate patient care technicians who are ready to join a team thats redefining quality care. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a trained member of the unit-based team who supports the ongoing delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team. The PCT works under the direct supervision of the R.N. and performs tasks and duties that do not require a license professional judgment or intervention. The PCT must pass the required competencies.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School GED or formal educational equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Health Care Experience. Patient Care Experience. Certified Nursing Assistant or Military Corpsman.
Excellent communication skills basic computer skills strong work ethic and accountability.
Experience in an ambulatory care setting
Successful completion of the patient care technician course is required within 3 months of employment.
CPR Certified/Licensed.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Prepares patient rooms for patients. Assists with medical procedures and examinations.
Conducts patient interviews measures vital signs (i.e. pulse rate temperature blood pressure weight and height) and performs phlebotomy.
Performs EKGs.
Research and scribes for physicians if needed.
Performs administrative tasks by scheduling patients for appointments procedures etc. using the various registration and scheduling systems.
Cross-trained as an IA (Information Associate (IA)) the face of the nursing unit who serves to greet every guest making them feel welcome and helping to keep them informed.
Maintains order in the unit by routing new orders and consulting.
Answers call lights and meets the paging needs of the units
Monitors for and meets patient needs thus helping to ensure patient flow through the unit is seamless.
Performs admission and discharge duties reconciles and enters patient charges. Performs data entry.
Helps with stocking/ cleaning.
Conducts telemetry and video monitoring.
Responsible and accountable for the tone of the nursing unit.
Perform other duties as assigned.
