We now seek a Principal Power Systems Engineer to be based out of our London office.
Role Responsibilities
As a Principal Power Engineer at RED Engineering you will play a crucial role in the design and optimization of power systems within the data centreindustry. Your primary responsibilities will include running computer simulationssupportingdesign teamsandensuringthereliabilityandefficiencyofpowerdistributionsystems.Weare particularly interested in candidates withexpertisein ETAP although experience withDigSilentor SKM will also be considered.
KeyResponsibilities:
SimulationExpertise:
Conductloadflowanalysistoensureoptimalpowerdistributionwithindatacentrefacilities.
Performshortcircuitanalysistoassesstheintegrityofthepowersystem under fault conditions.
Coordinateprotectionsystemstoenhancethereliabilityandsafetyofthe power distribution network.
Executearcflashstudiestomitigaterisksandensurecompliancewithsafetystandards.
Conductharmonicstudiestominimizepowerqualityissuesandoptimizesystem performance.
CollaborativeDesignSupport:
Collaboratecloselywiththedesignteamstounderstandprojectrequirements
TransientStabilityStudies:
ExperienceinTransientStabilitystudieswouldbeanadvantagecontributing to the resilience of the power systems under dynamic conditions.
DocumentationandReporting:
Validateinputdatatoensureaccuracyandreliabilityinsimulationresults.
Preparecomprehensivereportsdetailingsimulationresults recommendations and design considerations.
Maintainaccurateandup-to-datedocumentationrelatedtopowersystem simulations and design support activities.
ContinuousProfessionalDevelopment:
Stayabreastofindustrytrendsbestpracticesandemergingtechnologies.
Contributetothecontinuousimprovementofsimulationmethodologiesand tools within the power systems team.
Review:
- Support Power Systems Engineers in their deliverables.
Review models and reports forPower Systemsteam.
Role Requirements
BachelorsorMastersdegreeinPowerEngineering.
Provenexperienceinpowersystemsengineeringpreferablywithinthedatacentreindustry
ProficiencyinsimulationsoftwareparticularlyETAP(preferred)DigSilentorSKM.
ExperiencewithLoadFlowShortCircuitAnalysisProtectionCoordination Arc Flash Harmonic Studies and Underground Cable Sizing.
ExperienceinperformingTransientStabilityStudiesisdesirable.
ExperienceinperformingEarthingStudiesisdesirable.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the models of main electrical machinesincludingbutnotlimitedtogeneratorstransformersmotorsandUPS.
ExperienceinbothLVandMVsystemsideallyHVupto132kV.
StrongknowledgeofpowersystemscontrolandSCADAsystems.
Excellentanalyticalandproblem-solvingskills.
Effectivecommunicationandcollaborationabilities.
Backgroundinconsultingorconstructionpreferred.
Goodunderstandingofinternationalworkingandbusinessoperationsofa global consultancy.
