Position Summary
At Thermo Fisher Scientific the Business Analyst I in the Data Analytics team supports data-driven decision-making across global operations. This role partners with business stakeholders to gather requirements analyze datasets and deliver insights that improve operational efficiency customer experience and business performance.
The position is ideal for an early-career professional with a strong analytical mindset and interest in working within a highly regulated science-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders (e.g. commercial supply chain finance) to understand reporting and analytics needs
- Gather and document business and data requirements for analytics solutions
- Analyze structured and semi-structured data to identify trends patterns and opportunities
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI Tableau or similar
- Support data quality initiatives including validation cleansing and governance practices
- Translate business questions into analytical queries (e.g. SQL) and actionable insights
- Assist in building standardized reporting frameworks and KPIs across functions
- Work with IT and data engineering teams to support data pipelines and data model enhancements
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g. data integrity audit readiness)
- Document processes methodologies and reporting logic
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business Analytics Data Science Economics Information Systems or related field
- 02 years of relevant experience (internships or academic projects acceptable)
Required Skills & Experience
- Foundational knowledge of data analysis and reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas pivot tables)
- Basic knowledge of SQL for data querying
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI Tableau or similar)
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python or R for data analysis
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
- Exposure to ERP systems (e.g. SAP) or CRM platforms (e.g. Salesforce)
- Knowledge of life sciences healthcare or regulated industries
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
