The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University Department of Pediatrics invite applications for faculty hospitalist positions to provide care for hospitalized children in pediatric Blood and Marrow will include overnight inpatient care. Qualified candidates should be Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatrics Hematologist/Oncologists and preference will be given to applicants who are board certified/eligible in pediatric hematology/oncology. This is a clinical position with a rank of assistant or associate professor depending on experience and accomplishments.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Provide outstanding clinical care to patients undergoing BMT and cellular therapy. The individual will be the first call on the ward for these patients at night and is expected to function independently but with back up from the appropriate fellow or attending.
Clinical service time includes weeknight weekend night and holiday in-house shifts. Additionally assistance with general hematology and oncology and some weekday responsibilities may be required as necessary to meet the needs of the division.
Participate in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
Provide and/or serve as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
Provide patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws rules and regulations and Childrens policies and procedures.
Complete necessary documentation and ensure communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
Participate in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
Participate in activities that enhance professional development complete and maintain certification in BLS and PALS and maintain any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
Perform other responsibilities as required.


Successful candidates will have:
MD degree
Board Certification in Pediatrics (or Board eligibility)
Background in hematology/oncology and/or BMT is desired but not required
Currently licensed as a physician and eligible for licensure as a physician in the State of Georgia

Salary and rank of Assistant Professor at Emory University School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and accomplishment.

About the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center
The successful candidate will join one of the strongest pediatric hematology/oncology/BMT programs in the country.
The Aflac program has more than 90 faculty and 35 Advance Practice Providers (APPs).
More than 7000 children with cancer and blood disorders are treated annually at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
The Aflac pediatric oncology program cared for more than 450 new cancer cases last year represents the pediatric arm of the Emorys NCI-designated Winship Cancer Center and is one of the four largest pediatric oncology programs in the country.
The Aflac pediatric hematology program is one of the largest in the country (including 1800 active patients with sickle cell disease).
The Aflac blood and marrow transplantation program performed over 80 transplants last year.
Childrens Healthcare of Atlantathe only tertiary pediatric center in the dynamic metropolitan Atlanta areaserves a population of nearly 6 million people providing a strong basis for clinical programs in rare disorders.
