Job Title: Secondary 504 Facilitator
Reports to: Executive Director for Special Populations

Calendar: 187 days
Primary Purpose:
To coordinate support and assure all aspects of secondary campus 504 programs are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and local Board Policy state laws and federal regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities. Manage the secondary campus Section 504 program and oversee the provision of needed services. Oversee compliance with all state federal and local Section 504 requirements.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college/ university
- Valid Texas teacher certification
- 5 years of Secondary Teaching experience
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Well-organized flexible self- starter who completes and resolves tasks independently and on time.
- Grasps new learning
- Effectively facilitate Section 504 meetings
- Knowledge of current laws regulations policies and guidelines related to disability discrimination in public schools including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 the Texas Education Agency and the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR)
- Knowledge of the relationship and differences between Section 504 and the individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
- Knowledge of accommodations for students with impairments
- Knowledge of district state and other relevant testing procedures regulations and guidelines
- Student-focused ability to work effectively with peers to establish positive relationships with all stakeholders
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct all District trainings regarding Section 504
- Monitor secondary campus Section 504 procedures.
- Oversee school personnels access to and verification of a students Section 504 plan for compliance. Maintain proper Section 504 documentation and oversee the security and confidentiality of all student information.
- Coordinate plan and facilitate Section 504 meetings at both middle schools as well as the high school
- Response to Intervention (RTI): Assist with scheduling coordinating monitoring and facilitating campus RTI meeting
- Assist with campus processes timelines and documentation.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure proper referral procedures.
- Oversee the security and confidentiality of student information.
- Attend relevant professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Effective communication skills with others as well as the ability to work collaboratively.
- Maintains positive relationships with school staff parents and community members.

Tools/ Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture: Frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending/ stooping pushing/ pulling and twisting.
Motion: Repetitive hand motions: frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
Lifting: Occasional lifting carrying and transporting of boxes weighing 25-35 pounds.
Environment: Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Work must be performed on-site.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
