Job Summary
Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) is an independent JK to Grade 12 International Baccalaureate (IB) and Round Square day and boarding school located on two campuses in Victoria BC Canada. At GNS we provide an exceptional educational experience for students from age three to Grade 12 emphasizing robust academics healthy social and emotional development and inquiry-based student-centred learning within a supportive community. Guided by the IB framework we foster creativity critical thinking and a love of learning that prepares students for success in school and beyond.
In August 2026 GNS will proudly open Gryphon Manor a beautiful heritage residence and the newest addition to our boutique boarding program. Gryphon Manor will serve as our second boarding house joining Gryphon House and expanding our capacity to provide a personalized residential experience. Our boarding program is intentionally small by design. Students are known supported and challenged within a close-knit community grounded in belonging character development and global citizenship. Gryphon Manor will build on this tradition while offering a distinctive residential environment that reflects the warmth structure and excellence that define GNS.

Position Overview
The Senior House Parent is responsible for the day-to-day care supervision and holistic well-being of boarding students. As the on-site authority in the absence of the House Director the Senior House Parent provides decisive leadership sound judgment and consistent oversight to ensure the safety welfare and positive development of all students. Reporting to the House Director the Senior House Parent plays a critical role in implementing a high-quality boarding program that integrates residential life pastoral care academic support health and wellness and community engagement. The role fosters a safe inclusive and values-driven boarding environment aligned with GNSs values of Truth Courage Caring Individuality and Community enabling students to thrive socially emotionally and academically. This is a live-in position and includes morning evening overnight weekend and on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
What Youll Bring
We are seeking a mature values-driven individual who believes in the transformative power of residential boarding and understands the developmental needs of adolescents. You are a confident relationship builder with strong intercultural competence sound judgment and the ability to balance structure and accountability with warmth. You foster belonging while maintaining professional boundaries communicate clearly and collaboratively and remain calm and decisive in complex situations. Experience in boarding residential life youth mentorship education counselling athletics or community leadership will be viewed as a strong asset. Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) and a clear Criminal Record Check are required. A valid Class 5 drivers license is also necessary.

Highly organized and dependable you are capable of independent judgment while working within established policies and protocols. You possess strong leadership conflict-resolution and communication skills and are committed to student safety and wellbeing. You have a natural ability to connect with others be tactful and diplomatic in your approach and ultimately help our students do their best through truth and courage. House Parents must be able to meet the scheduling demands of residential life including evenings weekends overnights and on-call responsibilities.
Compensation and Accommodation
Compensation includes accommodation and optional meals during the academic year both provided as a taxable addition the Senior House Parent receives an annual stipend starting at $12500 with scheduled increases in subsequent years of service in accordance with the schools boarding compensation grid.
Accommodation options include a self-contained one-bedroom apartment of approximately 400 square feet best suited for an individual or a larger one-bedroom apartment of approximately 1150 square feet ideally suited to a couple who are interested in serving jointly as House Parents.
