Position Overview
A reputable healthcare organization is seeking a dedicated Donor Care Specialist to support blood collection operations and donor services. This role is responsible for ensuring safe efficient blood collection while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and delivering excellent donor care.
Responsibilities
Perform donor screening to determine eligibility in accordance with regulatory standards (CDC FDA AABB CAP)
Conduct whole blood collections and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures
Collect blood at donor centers and offsite blood drives
Prepare label and document blood samples and components accurately
Maintain donor records including deferrals and data entry
Assist with donor recruitment and retention initiatives
Monitor and restock supplies and maintain inventory levels
Ensure a clean safe and organized work environment
Follow all safety protocols infection control and quality standards
Provide excellent customer service to donors and staff
Experience Requirements
Prior phlebotomy experience required
Experience with blood donor programs (hospital-based or similar) required
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program preferred
Certifications & Licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
National phlebotomy certification preferred
