Job Description
We are partnering with our client in Halifax to hire an experienced Procurement Specialist with a strong background in laboratory and research procurement. This contract role is anticipated to be six-months in duration and will play a key part in supporting complex sourcing initiatives within a research-driven environment.Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Lead procurement for laboratory and research categories including chemicals consumables equipment and service agreements
- Manage end-to-end RFx (RFQ/RFP) processes for complex high-value procurements
- Ensure compliance with public-sector policies and trade agreements
- Partner with researchers to develop clear functional specifications
- Conduct value-based evaluations including total cost of ownership and risk analysis
- Negotiate commercial terms and manage supplier performance (KPIs/SLAs)
- Advise stakeholders on procurement processes and drive best practices
- Proven experience in scientific or laboratory procurement
- Strong track record managing formal RFx processes for complex procurements
- Solid understanding of public-sector procurement regulations and trade agreements
- Experience working with research stakeholders or academic environments
- Advanced analytical skills with a focus on cost optimization and risk assessment
- Excellent negotiation and contract management capabilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
