Are you passionate about making a positive impact to our members dignified retirement The Senior Accountant - Financial & Regulatory Reporting role supports the delivery of accurate timely and compliant financial and regulatory reporting obligations and plays a key role in managing these obligations within the Finance Team. The role sits within the Finance Team and is responsible for financial and regulatory reporting data analysis control execution issue management and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen financial and regulatory compliance and third-party data quality.
The opportunity
- Prepare and support the delivery of financial reporting (annual statutory financial reports and monthly management reporting) and regulatory reporting (including APRA returns PTRS reporting etc) in accordance with legislation reporting standards/guidelines and prescribed timelines.
- Work closely with the external auditors as part of the annual statutory audit process for both financial reporting and APRA reporting.
- Perform data quality checks reconciliations and exception analysis across source data and regulatory outputs.
- Perform in-depth analysis and modelling to understand trends identify emerging risks and support stakeholder management.
- Maintain review and enhance Standard Operating Procedures for regulatory reporting activities within the Finance Team.
- Liaise with key third parties including the Administrator and Custodian amongst other service providers on data and reporting requirements.
- Assist in responding to queries internal reviews and audit requests relating to regulatory reporting.
- Support investigation root-cause analysis and remediation of regulatory reporting issues.
- Take ownership of data solutions within the Finance Team to automate reporting processes improve efficiency and accuracy maintain and uplift data governance framework.
- Support impact assessments and implementation activities for new or changing regulatory requirements.
- Support other key functions within the Finance Team including monthly flash reporting daily cash flow reporting and supporting other miscellaneous business needs as required.
- Stay informed of financial reporting developments regulatory changes and new APRA reporting obligations.
About you
- Bachelor Degree in Commerce Accounting Finance Business or other relevant degree
- High competency in Excel
- Strong demonstrated experience in financial reporting and familiarity with related Accounting Standards
- Experience with APRA reporting including familiarity with the related Prudential Standards and Guides.
- Experience in a big-4 or similar environment (preferred)
- Superannuation industry or related experience (preferred)
- Familiarity with design and implementation of controls over financial and regulatory reporting
- Strong analytical skills with experience working with large datasets
- High attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organisation.
