Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Network Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks. The position is based in Brisbane Australia.

Key responsibilities:

You will work on the design implementation testing and integration of communications projects incorporating radio sites IP nodes voice and data communication systems fibre optic and copper-based transmission systems power supply systems and associated ancillary systems.

As part of the Engineering Design and Delivery Team you will work directly within the Communications Engineering Team and will be primarily responsible for design testing configuration and integration activities related to IP-based network systems.

In this role you will undertake duties including but not limited to the following:

• Develop high-level and detailed design documentation for a range of communications projects

• Perform hands-on engineering activities including configuration testing and integration of routing and switching equipment

• Participate in factory testing site testing commissioning and integration activities

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support successful project delivery

• Diagnose troubleshoot and resolve network and system integration issues

• Support delivery of reliable secure and high-performing communications networks across project environments

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 10 years experience as a Network Engineer preferably within large-scale infrastructure or rail projects

• Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP JNCIS or JNCIP

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline suitable for full membership with Engineers Australia

• Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies

• Strong understanding of key networking technologies including:

  • IP/MPLS

  • BGP

  • OSPF

• Demonstrated experience in network design configuration testing and integration

• Strong project delivery skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Demonstrated experience in engineering documentation and technical report writing

• Experience working in the rail sector or on brownfield / operational infrastructure projects will be highly regarded
