A Math Specialist is an individual holding a valid Arkansas teachers license meeting the criteria for a highly qualified teacher who facilitates continuous improvement in classroom instruction by providing instructional support to struggling students in the area of math utilizing elements of research-based instruction and by demonstrating the alignment of instruction with curriculum standards and assessments tools; develops instructional strategies; develops and implements training; chooses standards-based instructional materials; provides teachers with an understanding of current research; integrates technology into instruction; assists in the implementation of the components of the Ramay Junior High School Improvement Plan.
Position Description:
- Assists with the alignment of a viable curriculum both horizontally and vertically.
- Assists math teachers with the implementation of a viable curriculum and HQIM.
- Collaborate with math teachers with disaggregation of data pertaining to CFAs Summative Exams Diagnostic Reports ATLAS Interims and ATLAS Summative.
- Assists teachers with creating and improving common formative assessments and summative tests.
- Provides leadership that leads to an increase in achievement scores on the ATLAS Summative Test.
- Provide instructional support through coaching cycles co-teaching job-embedded professional development and teacher planning partner for the implementation of Fayetteville Public School District curricula and resources.
- Provides interventions for students in need of instructional support conduct small groups and extension opportunities for students.
- Assist administration with the facilitation of math data meetings and Content Team Meetings.
- Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress.
- Work collaboratively with school-based administration and staff to design mathematics improvement goals for students and teachers which inform the overall School Improvement Plan.
- Engage in professional growth opportunities to improve and enhance their mathematical knowledge for teaching their knowledge of mathematical pedagogy and their capacity for effective leadership and attend additional training as required.
- Assist teachers with the development and implementation of student Math Improvement Plans.
- Any other duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications:
v Valid Arkansas teaching license/Highly Qualified Teacher
v Four (4) years classroom teaching experience
v Skillful collaborator as evidenced by:
o Communication skills

o Experience with instruction of adult learners
o Time management
o Planning and organizational skills
v Skillful in curriculum implementation and evaluation as evidenced by:
