Job Summary
The successful applicant will have access to a full range of state-of-the art instrumentation at High Point University including a triple quad Shimadzu LCMS-8045 mass spectrometer a Shimadzu QP2020NX gas chromatography-mass spectrometer a Shimadzu RF-6000 fluorimeter with flow cell a Shimadzu IRTracer 100 FTIR a JEOL JNM-ECZS 400MHz NMR and UV-Vis spectrometers.
Applicants should submit a cover letter curriculum vitae a brief summary (< 1 page) describing their relevant research experience in synthesis and pharmacological evaluation and names and contact information for two references. Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Salary and the nature of the appointment will be commensurate with the candidates experience and qualifications.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Synthesis and analysis of compounds e.g. chemical reaction monitoring separation purification and characterization procedures of the research proposal.
- Analyzing and interpretation of data and writing manuscripts.
- Lab maintenance.
- Providing lab members with support in data collection synthesis and characterization.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Qualified candidates should have a minimum M.S. or preferably a Ph.D. degree specializing in medicinal or organic chemistry biochemistry pharmaceutical chemistry or another related field. Experience in using equipment such as GC-MS NMR and IR instrumentations.
Special Knowledge Skill & Abilities:
The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and be able to work well with lab members especially students from a variety of scientific and cultural backgrounds.
