JOB GOAL
Provides Support to principal district and teachers in implementing High School Academies
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the contact person for business and community engagement
- Attend industry council meetings and other meetings for networking and partnerships
- Educate and promote the National Standards for Practice for Academies (NSOP) including documentation that demonstrates mastery of NSOP for the purpose of achieving Model Status in a national site review by NCAC
- Serve as the liaison among faculty and leadership in the school in developing andsustaining academies
- Serve as liaison between schools and the District Office of Innovation
- In partnership with the principal and Director of Innovation implement the Vicksburg WarrenCollege and Career Academies master plan in the high schools
- Ensure the completion of action plan calendar of events and budget for academies
- Coordinate and implement advisory councils for each academy
- Maintain community investment data for business and community involvement
- Communicate academy information with the media and district Communications office.
- Engage industries and coordinate job shadowing student internships teacherexternships guest speakers field trips work-based learning projects capstone projects industry visits for teachers and students and other experiential learning experiences.
- Serve on master scheduling team which develops and updates scheduling of students for proper placement and purity in academies
- Serve on school leadership team to align Vicksburg Warren College and CareerAcademies district initiatives with school improvement
- Attend scheduled academy coach meetings
- Facilitate the organization and implementation of of Academy Showcases/Open Houses
- Identify new potential business partners
- Ensure students have multiple opportunities to explore college and careers through the VWCCA Continuum of Experiences
- Promote Post Secondary Learning Experiences
- Implement Project Based Learning throughout the school making sure teachers receiveformal training and work within their teams to implement at least on cross curricular project per semester
- Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Valid teaching license. Minimum three (3) years teaching experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints. Ability to read analyze and interpret requests from
others. Ability to write and respond to work order tickets.
OTHER SKILLS
Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions. Must keep accurate up-to-date records.
