Job Summary
The CNA at Kenmare Rehab provides direct high-quality care to residents under the supervision of an RN or LPN and in accordance with guidelines established by the Nurse Manager. This role supports residents daily care needs assists with mobility and comfort measures and helps maintain a safe therapeutic environment within the rehabilitation setting. As part of a collaborative care team the CNA works closely with nursing staff and therapy teams to support recovery goals while consistently promoting resident dignity and safety. Strong communication attention to detail and a commitment to compassionate team-based care are essential to success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct resident care including hygiene grooming mobility assistance nutrition support and other daily living activities as assigned by licensed nursing staff.
- Assist nursing staff with clinical tasks such as vital signs observation reporting and documentation within scope of practice.
- Support resident mobility transfers and safety using appropriate techniques and equipment to prevent injury and enhance independence.
- Maintain resident rooms equipment and common areas in a clean organized and safe manner following infection control and facility protocols.
- Communicate promptly and clearly with RNs LPNs and the Nurse Manager regarding resident concerns changes in condition or safety issues.
- Foster a supportive respectful environment that promotes resident dignity comfort emotional well-being and a positive rehabilitative experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Current North Dakota CNA certification required.
- BLS required within 30 days of hire
Educational Requirements:
- Certification required.
- Clerical training a plus.
Experience Requirements:
- Previous nursing aide experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred but not required.
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- Computer and keyboarding skills are a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires frequent standing walking bending and assisting residents with mobility throughout the shift. CNAs must be able to lift move or support 35-50 pounds independently and more when using proper assistive devices or team lifts. The position demands fine motor coordination manual dexterity for clinical tasks and the ability to respond quickly to resident needs. Sustained attention verbal communication and the ability to work safely in a physically active environment are essential.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed in a long-term care and rehabilitation environment with regular exposure to residents clinical equipment and potential contact with bodily fluids. The CNA must follow infectioncontrol standards safety procedures and protective equipment guidelines. The work environment requires adaptability to changing resident needs varying activity levels and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Occasional exposure to cleaning agents noise and highdemand periods is expected while maintaining professionalism and residentcentered focus.
