Job Title: Career and Technical Education Specialist
Job Goal:
To serve as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Specialist by providing professional development compliance support and technical assistance to LEAs in Region 6 to develop effective high quality CTE programs that support career readiness.
Qualifications
- Masters degree
- Texas Teacher certification in the CTE field
Experience
- Minimum 5 years teaching and/or supervisory experience in the field of Career and Technical Education
- Training and experience in curriculum and program development for CTE programs
- Working knowledge and experience with compliance and state and federal program and fiscal guidelines under the Carl Perkins grant preferred
- Experience in planning developing and presenting professional development to adults
Special Knowledge & Skills
- High degree of professionalism including strong organizational communication and public relations skills
- Ability to establish rapport and work in collaboration with public school ESC and state personnel
- Ability to prepare and provide professional development to educators of all levels
- Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for CTE programs and funding
- Knowledge of CCMR accountability and CTE Programs of Study
- Ability to effectively work with diverse personalities
- Ability to work on multiple tasks effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to utilize current technology platforms and software
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Communicate effectively and maintain positive professional relationships within the Special Programs
Department the ESC school system staff TEA contacts and any partner organizations
- Respond to client needs in a professional courteous and timely manner with current accurate information
- Work on cross department teams to analyze data review PEIMS course coding and plan for ESC school system accountability and CCMR
- Collaborate with CTE and other ESC program area staff to coordinate program activities trainings technical assistance and program information dissemination to ensure the goals of the ESC are realized
- Support LEA staff at all levels in understanding the benefits of individualized programs of study based on career clusters and pathways for college and career readiness
- Serve as a CTE grant contact for Perkins and the Perkins EDGAR Technical Assistance Grant
- Conduct required regional CTE professional development and technical assistance activities as specified in grant guidelines
- Plan and facilitate touchpoint meetings and disseminate information to update directors in a timely manner as required by the grant April 2026
- Follow guidelines and reporting deadlines provided by the TEA
- Facilitate relationships between LEAs and local business and industry Workforce Development Boards Institutes of Higher Education (IHE) etc.
- Work with the TEA CTE staff to promote the statewide goals and objectives
- Facilitate the work of school systems in the disaggregation and analysis of data for CTE Programs
- Serve as a point of contact for the ESC Perkins V Shared Services Arrangement (SSA) to carry out duties as the fiscal agent representative
- Understand and abide by all program guidelines and assurances stated in the Perkins V Application
- Coordinate with Component Director and other CTE staff to complete the Perkins V Grant Application program and budget schedules and CLNAs (Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment)
- Assist SSA member LEAs with development of CLNAs continuous improvement plans implementation and evaluation of CTE programs
- Work directly with SSA member districts to collect data and plan activities and expenditures for the ESC as a fiscal agent representative for the program
- Provide training and support for the Carl Perkins V Federal Application and Compliance Reporting to SSA members
- Utilize multiple modalities including distance learning technologies in person face-to-face phone and email for meetings technical assistance trainings etc.
- Prepare and provide professional development to educators of all levels
- Follow all federal state and local ESC guidelines policies and procedures
- Plan and conduct/facilitate professional development to meet the needs of SSA member districts
- Maintain program data and documentation for auditing purposes
- Provide grant required information and any compliance reports as requested by the stated deadlines
- Other duties as may be assigned

- Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
