This role focuses on leading enterprise-wide End-of-Life (EOL) software initiatives including discovery analysis packaging deployment and decommissioning of applications across a large-scale environment.
Setting: Enterprise IT / End-User Computing Environment
Etc.: Hands-on role supporting enterprise software lifecycle management and EOL initiatives within a highly regulated financial environment - Responsibilities:
The Software Packaging Engineer will be responsible for:
Leading and supporting full lifecycle EOL software management initiatives across the enterprise
Conducting software discovery inventory and usage analysis to identify legacy unsupported and redundant applications
Collaborating with engineering security compliance and project management teams to validate and execute EOL strategies
Performing software packaging repackaging testing and deployment using MECM
Managing application deployments including UAT coordination pilot rollouts and production releases
Handling decommissioning activities including removal of legacy applications from AD MECM and MDT environments
Developing and maintaining documentation reporting and dashboards for EOL tracking and decision-making
Managing risks issues and change requests in alignment with change management processes
Presenting findings and recommendations to both technical and business stakeholders - Qualifications:
3 years of experience in Software Packaging Engineering or Application Lifecycle Management
Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience working in enterprise environments preferably within financial services
Strong proficiency in PowerShell SQL and WQL
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM)
Experience with software packaging MSI editing and deployment technologies
Knowledge of Windows 10/11 Mac and/or VDI environments
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with multiple teams - Desired Skills:
Experience with Splunk and/or UberAgent
Familiarity with InstallShield and Liquidware FlexApp
Experience with enterprise software inventory and reporting tools
Understanding of software lifecycle governance and compliance best practices
