Role Overview
The Embedded Data Scientist will serve as a dedicated member of the Data Analytics / Data Products scrum team.
This role focuses on developing analytics reports building statistical models and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Engagement Model
- Serve as a full-time contractor embedded in a Data Analytics / Data Products scrum team from January 1 2026 to September 30 2026.
- Work primarily remotely with no more than 10 in-office days during the contract period.
- Use client-provided and managed hardware.
- Report to the clients Manager of Data Science (or equivalent role).
- Work between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Eastern Time on client business days with up to 10 business days allowed for absence during the contract period.
- Reside in the United States for the entire contract period.
Key Responsibilities
Report Development and Maintenance
- Design implement and maintain analytics reports and data products using Python SQL and Quarto (or similar tools).
Statistical Model Development
- Develop statistical and machine learning models for predictive and counterfactual scenario simulations.
- Utilize methods including but not limited to Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) logistic and probabilistic models generalized additive models gradient boosting and other appropriate estimation techniques.
Data Governance and Security
- Ensure data integrity and quality through robust governance practices.
- Safeguard non-public data and personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.
Team Process & Contribution
- Write unit tests and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
- Conduct code reviews on peers merge requests.
- Participate in sprint planning reviews and retrospectives as part of an Agile team.
- Contribute to and maintain internal Data Team documentation/handbooks.
- Uphold the clients values standards and engineering best practices.
Qualifications
- Alignment with the clients mission values and culture.
- At least 2 years of professional experience applying statistical methods machine learning or data science techniques to real-world problems.
- At least 2 years of experience programming in Python and SQL.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analytical findings through data visualizations and clear written reports.
- Knowledge of statistical techniques such as regression modeling hypothesis testing and causal inference.
